Tee Higgins’ 3-Word Message Ignites Free Agency Speculation, NFL Fans Wonder If the Bengals WR Is Hinting at Breaking News

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins fed into speculation around his future in southwest Ohio with his latest tweet.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and with his latest tweet, the Clemson product fed into speculation around his future in southwest Ohio.

NFL Fans Speculate About Tee Higgins’ Free Agency Plans Following Latest Tweet

On Tuesday, Jan. 21, the 26-year-old wideout posted a three-word tweet: “Thank you, God.”

In ordinary circumstances, this would hardly gain any traction. But with the NFL offseason moving at its usual blistering pace, with upheavals all around the league. With free agency, contract extensions, and coaching changes afoot, social media is taking this piece of communication as a subtle hint regarding his future in Cincinnati.

Higgins has been linked to many possible suitors in need of receiving talent. These teams include the Los Angeles Chargers and New England Patriots, both of which have ample cap space to pursue him. New York Jets WR Davante Adams even spoke recently of the possibility that the Green Bay Packers could make a splash on him.

However, Joe Burrow recently expressed his conviction in the Bengals front office’s ability to do “whatever it takes” to bring the 6’4″ receiver back on an extension. Many members of Who Dey Nation hope this tweet could signify the two parties moving closer to a deal.

Higgins played the 2024 season on the exclusive franchise tag, with a cap hit of $21.8 million. The Bengals’ WR2 finished with 73 receptions, 911 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.

Higgins’ ability to make contested catches and consistently provide mismatches against opposing secondaries makes him one of the league’s best WR2s. Many fans believe that he could put up big numbers as a WR1 on teams without Ja’Marr Chase, who became the youngest NFL player to win a triple crown this past season.

Keeping Higgins in Cincinnati would help Burrow keep producing at the prodigious rate he showed this past season. The Cincinnati quarterback finished less than 100 yards shy of his first 5,000-yard season while leading the league in passing yards and touchdowns.

Burrow ranked fifth on PFN’s NFL quarterback rankings with a QB+ rating of 88.5 for 2024.
