Week 6 TE Waiver Wire Targets: Top Players To Add Include Logan Thomas, Dalton Schultz, and Others

The TE position looks like a barren wasteland. Is there any help we can find off the Week 6 waiver wire at fantasy football's worst position?

The Week 6 waiver wire is like every other week at the tight end position: There just isn’t much out there. Waiver adds at TE are very much an exercise in chasing your tail and hoping to catch it just once. With that in mind, here are some potential targets for fantasy football managers on the wire this week.

Top TE Waiver Wire Targets in Week 6

More Waiver Wire Targets: QBs | RBs | WRs

Logan Thomas, Washington Commanders (15% Rostered)

On Thursday, I was kicking myself for picking up Logan Thomas in two leagues and not starting him. But hey, at least I already have him on my teams because he is the top tight end pickup ahead of Week 6.

Thomas’ role is excellent. He’s playing over 80% of the snaps and is the clear TE1 for his team. On Thursday, he caught nine passes for 77 yards and a touchdown. In a year where it is difficult even to find 10 points a week at the position, Thomas has established himself as an every-week starter.

    FAAB Recommendation: 10-25%

Dalton Schultz, Houston Texans (36% Rostered)

Dalton Schultz caught seven of 10 targets for 65 yards and a touchdown. It’s his second straight game with a touchdown, but his first game with more than four receptions.

I don’t think there’s anything here with Schultz, but I would be doing you all a disservice to leave his name out of the waiver wire column. I would not recommend adding him.

    FAAB Recommendation: 0-5%

Jonnu Smith, Atlanta Falcons (16% Rostered)

Somehow, Jonnu Smith has seen at least six targets in four straight games. His lowest fantasy outing over that span is 8.7 points. That’s quite usable at the tight end position. Smith caught six of seven targets for 67 yards against the Texans. Simply put: Why not?

    FAAB Recommendation: 0-5%

Which TEs Should You Roster in Fantasy Football?

Should You Roster Jonnu Smith or Dalton Kincaid?

There’s no denying which one of these guys has more upside: Dalton Kincaid. There’s also no denying which one of these guys has been more productive through five weeks: Smith.

Kincaid’s role has surprisingly decreased since Week 1. After playing 80% of the snaps in Week 1 and 60% of the snaps in Week 2, Kincaid has been around the 50% mark each of the past three weeks. He’s yet to find the end zone and has only topped 30 yards once this season.

Meanwhile, Smith has firmly taken the TE1 role over from Kyle Pitts. Although Pitts had his best game of the season last week, Smith caught another six passes for 67 yards. That’s consecutive six-reception games for the guy who was supposed to be the backup.

Smith is playing more snaps and running more routes than Pitts. His production has been there for four straight games, and it’s been better than Kincaid’s. The rookie still has the higher ceiling, but if you need someone you can start in fantasy this week, it’s clearly Smith.

Should You Roster Logan Thomas or Hunter Henry?

Through the first four weeks, Hunter Henry was a clear TE1 in fantasy. He was one of the most reliable guys at the position.

In Week 6, Thomas had the best game of his career, while Henry had the worst. Flip-flopping these guys feels very reactionary. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t warranted.

Henry’s role is still very good. He’s playing 80% of the snaps, and the target competition is minimal, with the Patriots deploying a bunch of rotational WR3/4s as their top guys.

Thomas is competing with Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel for targets, but the Commanders are a vastly superior offense with a vastly superior quarterback.

Perhaps this is recency bias, but I just don’t want any part of the Patriots offense. I believe in Thomas’ role, and we’ve seen him be a fantasy TE1 in the past. Give me the Commander.
