Week 18 TE Waiver Wire Targets: Top Players To Add Include Juwan Johnson and Gerald Everett

The TE position continues to look like a barren wasteland. Is there any help we can find off the Week 18 waiver wire at fantasy football's worst position?

The Week 18 waiver wire is like every other week at the tight end position: there just isn’t much out there. Waiver adds at TE are very much an exercise in chasing your tail and hoping to catch it just once. With that in mind, here are some potential targets for fantasy football managers on the wire this week.

Top TE Waiver Wire Targets in Week 18

Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints (15% Rostered)

Most tight ends are touchdown or bust. That’s what I would describe Juwan Johnson as.

However, he just caught eight passes for 90 yards in Week 17. It’s likely an anomaly, but Johnson has the talent and has had big games in the past.

Johnson has now scored in three straight games. The Saints have a must-win game against an Atlanta Falcons team that has completely fallen apart. He’s a viable streamer.

Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Chargers (46% Rostered)

The Los Angeles Chargers are playing out the remainder of a lost season.

Keenan Allen was essentially shut down when Justin Herbert got hurt. He’s not going to miraculously return for a meaningless Week 18 game. It would be surprising if Joshua Palmer returned as well.

All of the Chargers’ WR injuries leave Gerald Everett as a featured pass catcher. He saw nine targets against the Denver Broncos last week and will once again have a prominent role in Week 18.

Which TE Should You Roster in Fantasy Football?

Should You Roster Juwan Johnson or Darren Waller?

Darren Waller looked much better last week, catching five of six targets for 51 yards. He now once again finds himself with a favorable matchup against the same Philadelphia Eagles team he made his return against two weeks ago.

Waller was limited in that game, but he shouldn’t be the second time around. He’s a solid start in Week 18, but it’s hard to deny what Johnson was able to do last week.

Johnson’s floor is as low as it gets, with there always being a chance he only catches one or two passes. However, his upside is greater than that of this version of Waller.

I would lean Johnson since the Saints have something to play for.

Should You Roster Gerald Everett or Chigoziem Okonkwo?

After looking like he turned a corner two weeks ago, it was back to business as usual for Chigoziem Okonkwo. He caught just three passes for 34 yards.

The Tennessee Titans get the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 18. When these teams last met, Okonkwo caught one pass for six yards. With just one touchdown on the season and erratic usage, it will be hard to trust him.

Meanwhile, Everett has had a solid production floor for the past six weeks, scoring at least 7.7 fantasy points in every game over that span. Give me Everett for the final week of the season.
