The Week 16 waiver wire is like every other week at the tight end position: there just isn’t much out there. Waiver adds at TE are very much an exercise in chasing your tail and hoping to catch it just once. With that in mind, here are some potential targets for fantasy football managers on the wire this week.
Top TE Waiver Wire Targets in Week 16
Tucker Kraft, Green Bay Packers (10% Rostered)
As it turns out, losing Luke Musgrave wasn’t that much of a blow to the Packers’ tight end position. Their other rookie, Tucker Kraft, stepped in seamlessly.
Kraft caught four of six targets for 57 yards and a touchdown against the Bucs. He’s now scored at least 9.5 fantasy points in three of his last four.
If Christian Watson can’t return and Jayden Reed is forced to miss time, Kraft could be in line for an increased role. At the always difficult tight end position, he is startable.
Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Chargers (44% Rostered)
Admittedly, adding players playing with Easton Stick is not the best move. Gerald Everett certainly doesn’t possess the same upside he would with Justin Herbert under center.
More Waiver Wire Targets: RB | WR | QB
But Everett has been serviceable with 8.4 points or more in his last four games. He’s now seen eight targets in two straight.
The Chargers have a tough spot next week against the Bills but close out against the Broncos, who just surrendered three touchdowns to Sam LaPorta. You can certainly do worse than Everett.
Which Position Should You Roster in Fantasy Football?
Should You Roster Tucker Kraft or Cole Kmet?
I couldn’t have been less interested in Cole Kmet in fantasy drafts this season, but he’s actually been a solid TE1. His weekly floor is as low as anyone’s, but he’s displayed a decently high ceiling.

Kmet has now scored 11+ fantasy points in three straight games. He’s scored at least 9.6 fantasy points in six of his last seven. I imagine there aren’t many tight ends who have been that reliable.
Tucker Kraft has been solid in his own right since taking over for Luke Musgrave. However, his final two opponents are solid at shutting down opposing tight ends from a fantasy standpoint. Kmet has a brutal Week 16 matchup but is set up to smash in Week 17. I would stick with Kmet.
Should You Roster Gerald Everett or Darren Waller?
Darren Waller returned last week after a five-game absence due to yet another hamstring strain. He looked healthy, which is obviously the most important thing. He was also supposed to be limited.
Waller did play behind Daniel Bellinger and was only out there on 40% of the snaps. However, he ran more routes than Bellinger. Waller was targeted on an impressive six of his 22 routes run. We should expect his playing time to only increase over the final two weeks.
Everett is who he is. He’ll get you about 6-8 points. Maybe he scores. It is worth noting that Everett will benefit from the most favorable matchup for tight ends in Week 17 against the Broncos. That will be great for fantasy managers who can get there, but in Week 16, he has a tough matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
Waller has two of the softest opponents against tight ends remaining on his schedule. There is a bit of projecting necessary in terms of his playing time, but if he can get to a 70% snap share this week, he may very well be worth starting. I would roll the dice on Waller’s proven higher upside.
