New Orleans Saints all-purpose weapon Taysom Hill suffered an apparent injury in the club’s Week 13 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. Here’s the latest from Sunday’s game.
What Happened to Taysom Hill?
Hill stayed down on the field after picking up a 4th-and-1 conversion late in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s contest.
The versatile Saints producer appeared to take a knee to the helmet while being tackled. Hill eventually had to be carted off the field and into New Orleans’ locker room.
The Saints quickly announced that Hill was battling a knee injury.

On Monday morning, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Hill suffered a torn ACL and would be out for the remainder of the season.
Hill’s versatility has been on constant display this season, and Week 13 was no different. Before departing Sunday’s game, Hill had lined up at wide receiver (20 snaps), fullback (eight), halfback (five), running back (three), and tight end (three).
He finished Week 13 as the Saints’ leading receiver with five catches for 37 yards. Hill also rushed five times for 10 yards.
The 34-year-old was utterly dominant in a Week 11 win over the Cleveland Browns, totaling more than 200 scrimmage yards while accounting for three total touchdowns. He became the second player in the Super Bowl era with eight catches, 130 rushing yards, and three scores in a single game — and he also attempted two passes.
Did Hill Return in Week 13?
Hill did not re-enter Sunday’s game. The Saints listed Hill as doubtful to return with roughly two minutes remaining in Week 13, but he didn’t return in his club’s 21-14 defeat.
New Orleans will face the New York Giants in Week 14. At this point, it’s too early to say whether Hill will be ready for that contest, but the nature of his injury could make it difficult for him to play.
The Saints fell to 4-8 on Sunday, dropping their playoff odds below 5%. With little to no hope of making the postseason, New Orleans could exude caution with Hill down the stretch.
Fantasy Implications of Hill’s Injury
Hill is something of a fantasy football cheat code, given his unique role in this limited offense. While that allows him to be ranked as a fantasy starter, it also means he doesn’t have a direct replacement.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling has been a solid option in the Saints’ offense amid the club’s receiver injuries. He should see his target share increase if Hill misses time but remains a risk/reward Flex at best.
Juwan Johnson moves onto the TE streamer discussion, but at a low end and only in PPR leagues. New Orleans’ offense is patchworking things together as is. Hill’s injury could result in the Saints becoming further exposed, thus making the opposing D/STs even more appealing.
