The New Orleans Saints have been a roller coaster this year. They have looked very good at times but are far from all too familiar with pathetic offensive showings. The Saints are coming off a 31-24 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars last Thursday and are currently 3-4 on the year.
One guy who has made some plays for the Saints is tight end Taysom Hill, who scored a touchdown in the loss to the Jaguars. He had five carries for 18 yards to go with that score and also saw four catches for 50 yards. What did Week 7 mean for his fantasy football prospects?

Should You Pick Up Taysom Hill off the Waiver Wire?
The New Orleans offense has been very inconsistent this year, particularly in the explosive play department. The Saints currently average 4.6 yards per play, which ranks 28th in the NFL. Quarterback Derek Carr is also 28th in the league in yards per pass at 6.3 yards per attempt.
In the NFL, it’s hard to consistently do 12-play, 80-yard drives. You have to be able to create big plays, and right now, New Orleans isn’t able to do that. With this lack of big plays, there’s little reason to acquire Hill off the waiver wire.
First off, Hill, like the Saints, is way too inconsistent to count on. Hill is tempting because he does so many different things, but he just doesn’t get the ball enough to be dependable in fantasy football.
Hill has 29 carries this year for 140 yards while also making 15 catches for 115 yards. He has scored only one touchdown this year, meaning he just isn’t generating enough points to have on your roster.

Right now, there really isn’t any player on that New Orleans offense who can be counted on to do much in fantasy. Even running back Alvin Kamara has struggled to produce in a sustainable manner.
It’s unlikely Kamara continues to see borderline hysterical target numbers, even with Carr under center. Kamara had a game this season with 13 catches for 33 yards, which broke the record for fewest yards on that many receptions.
When looking at the waiver wire, one of the first things you should do is look and see if your target is on the Saints. If they are, skip them and look at other players.
Carr is just not taking any chances deep or looking for the big play. Instead, he has favored dinking and dunking down the field, keeping Hill out of range for high-value touches in the red zone.
Until New Orleans hits explosive plays at a greater clip, it will continue to be one of the worst offenses in the league.
