Taylor Swift Has Declined the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show: Reports

Taylor Swift has reportedly declined the Super Bowl Halftime Show. We take a look at why and who else may perform in 2024.

Taylor Swift has dominated Super Bowl Halftime Show performance rumors for years now, and fresh reports have emerged about her potential of performing at Super Bowl LVIII.

    Taylor Swift Declines Halftime Show

HITS Daily Double reports that Swift has declined the opportunity to play the halftime show in Super Bowl LVIII. Swift has dominated the music industry in 2023 and would have been a huge get for the NFL. While an official reason has not been provided, it is speculated that the demands of her tour schedule may be behind her decision.

Swift is currently embarking on her record-breaking Eras Tour with tickets being met with extraordinary demand. The Eras Tour is set to hit Europe and Asia in 2024. Super Bowl LVIII, meanwhile, will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Feb. 11, 2024. At that time, Swift will be due to finish her four-show stint in Tokyo, Japan, on Feb. 10, and head to Melbourne, Australia, on Feb. 16.

The news was met with sadness by fans, and Swifties took to social media to voice their disappointment

Playing the Super Bowl Halftime Show is a badge of honor for music artists, as it is one of the most-watched events on the calendar. It has seen some of the most iconic music performances in memory, and fans thought that if Swift were to take up the opportunity, it could go down as one of the best Super Bowl Halftime Shows of all time. With a huge back catalog, Swift would not be short of hits to play.

There should be little doubt that the news will be a blow for Halftime Show organizers. The 12-time Grammy Award winner is one of the most esteemed artists out there. She had over 102 million streams on Spotify on Aug. 15 alone.

It is déjà vu for Swift fans as she says no to playing the Super Bowl Halftime Show again. It was widely reported that she turned down the chance to do the halftime show in 2022.

Who Else Might Perform in 2024?

    Harry Styles

Swift may have dominated the halftime show speculation, but plenty have also speculated that Harry Styles may be in the running for the gig.

Styles won Album of the Year with Harry’s House at the 2023 Grammys, and his career has continued to grow. The former One Direction singer is one of the top choices according to MLFootball.

It was speculated that Styles could have joined Rihanna during her performance, but could he get top billing in Super Bowl LVIII?

    Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus is another name that has been heavily linked to a potential halftime show performance. Pop Tingz on Twitter/X shared the rumor, and while fans were split on the idea, Cyrus is an engaging performer who would surely put on an entertaining performance.

    Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran is another massive star who has been speculated to perform at a halftime show for some time. But unfortunately for Sheeran fans, he seemed to have dispelled those rumors when speaking to Andy Cohen on SiriusXM.

“I think it is an American thing,” said the British singer. “I don’t have pizazz,” Sheeran added. He went on to reel off a number of the top performers, including Prince and Lady GaGa saying, “I’m not that.” Sheeran added that the over-the-top theatrics of a halftime show just isn’t him.

Sheeran also let us know that there was a chance we may have seen him during a previous halftime show performance.

“There was a conversation a while ago. I think when Coldplay did it, of me going to play Thinking Out Loud, and I think that would be the only way I would do it. If I was joining someone else.”

    Lizzo

Lizzo is another artist who has been touted as a potential performer, but those rumors have died in recent days. Lizzo is reported by the Daily Mail to no longer be in the running after multiple sexual harassment lawsuits.
