Tank Dell Injury Update: What We Know About the Houston Texans Rookie WR

What happened to Tank Dell on Sunday? Here's the latest injury update on the Houston Texans rookie wide receiver.

Rookie wideout Tank Dell has been a revelation for the Houston Texans this season. After making an excellent catch against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Dell appeared to suffer a potential injury. What happened to Dell in Week 5, and what’s his current status?

From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!

    Tank Dell Injury Update

Dell hauled in a 29-yard pass from Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud in order to convert a 3rd-and-10 play near the end of the second half. While Dell got the first down, he stayed down on the field after the play.

Dell was eventually able to walk off under his own power and initially sat down on Houston’s sideline.

However, Dell made his way to the blue medical tent, where he was evaluated for several minutes. He then left for the Texans’ locker room just before halftime.

The Texans initially Dell announced was questionable to return while being evaluated for a concussion. However, Houston officially ruled out the rookie near the end of the third quarter.

Dell, the 69th overall selection in April’s draft, entered Week 5 with 16 receptions, 267 yards, and two touchdowns. He was Houston’s leading receiver (three catches, 57 yards) in the first half of Week 5.

    Fantasy Fallout From Dell’s Injury

Dalton Schultz scored his first touchdown as a Texan in Week 4 and was a clear focal point in the first half on Sunday (27.3% target share). He emerges as a streamable tight end on a weekly basis as fantasy managers try to hold that position together with scotch tape.

Dell’s injury even further solidifies Nico Collins (top-five receiver in two of his first four games this season) as a set-it-and-forget-it option. His injury adds some downside to C.J. Stroud as a quarterback streamer, but as long as Houston’s development plan is to pass to set up the pass, he should be on your radar.
