Super Bowl Commercials 2022: What brands will make an appearance?

A yearly tradition as big as the game itself, here is a preview of some of the commercials you can expect during the 2022 Super Bowl.

Every year, a new batch of companies release their long-anticipated commercials during the Super Bowl. This year is no different. Spoiler warnings ahead, but here are some of the brands represented in 2022 Super Bowl commercials.

Brands to appear in 2022 Super Bowl commercials

Spoiler warning: We are going to be discussing the upcoming 2022 Super Bowl commercials. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Also, remember these companies paid $6.5 million for a 30-second commercial, so they better be good.

    Budweiser

After a hiatus from last year’s Super Bowl, Budweiser is back, and so are their iconic Clydesdale horses. Directed by Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao of “Nomadland” and “Marvel’s Eternals,” they’re going at your hearts again. In a continuation from the iconic “Puppy Love” commercial, this time it’s the dog helping the Clydesdale.

“For us to come back, with a symbol of America but also a story of injury, the road to recovery, and ultimately, this triumph, I think is a really important message for the country to hear right now and one that really, only Budweiser can tell in this way,” said Daniel Blake, Budweiser’s vice president of marketing. Budweiser is the king of Super Bowl commercials, and their 2022 version seems to live up to their lofty expectations.

    Bud Light Seltzer

Like them or not, seltzers are not going away. Personally, I’m a big fan of them, and Bud Light is back with a new one, a hard soda seltzer. When bringing this much flavor to a market that can be lacking at times, there is one man who can give it the stamp of approval, the Mayor of Flavortown — Guy Fieri.

Hopefully, these are on shelves ahead of the 2022 Super Bowl, so I can give them a proper test when the commercial airs. It feels like it’s my civic duty at this point. I wonder if that’s tax deductible as a work expense?

    Uber Eats

Uber is here to remind you they deliver more than just food. Their 2022 Super Bowl commercial showcases several celebrities tasting things they had delivered. Trevor Noah and Jennifer Coolidge appear in the commercial, as does Gwyneth Paltrow, who eats something that tastes oddly … familiar.

This is all I am allowed to say before I get fired, so yeah, you’ll get it when you see it.

    Lay’s

For such an iconic brand, surely they have become a staple of Super Bowl commercials, right? Nope. Their 2022 Super Bowl commercial is the first that Lay’s has released for the big game in 17 years. Their one-minute spot features two of America’s favorites, Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen.

The commercial, titled “Golden Memories,” dives into the two’s memories and all the times Lay’s was there for them. Everything from a kidnapping to a poltergeist wedding.

    Busch Beer

Not every Super Bowl commercial in 2022 needs to have a deeper meaning. It doesn’t even need to make sense. Busch Beer believed in this and ran with it.

“Whenever you crack open a Busch light, the mountains start singing.” In this case, it’s random people in the sky singing, which culminates in a smooth jazz solo by Kenny G that would leave Ron Burgundy jealous.

    Sam Adams

Your cousin from Boston is back, and he is pulling security this time. Unfortunately, he runs out of beer and needs a hand. He whistles for Spot to fetch him a Sam. Instead of seeing a cute dog, it’s a Boston Dynamics robot dog who throws it to him.

Nope. Hard pass from me. Robots are going to be overlords one day, and I am not trying to rush that process. We’ve all seen that episode of Black Mirror to know what is coming in the end.
