What Is the Super Bowl Color Scheme Conspiracy? Viral Tweet Throws NFL Fans Into a Frenzy

A recent social media post went viral suggesting that the Super Bowl logo color scheme reveals who will compete in the game.

Conspiracy theories have become increasingly common in the age of the internet and the rapid dissemination of information. And it seems the NFL has one of the biggest conspiracies currently.

The Super Bowl Color Scheme Conspiracy

A post from the account NFL_Memes on X (formerly Twitter) has racked up millions of views as it suggests the colors in the Super Bowl logos correlate to the two teams playing in the game.

The post currently has over 8.6 million views and has fans freaking out at the idea.

In 2021, the reddish-orange of the Bengals and the yellow of the Rams franchise were in the logo, and those were the two teams to play in the Super Bowl. The 2022 logo featured the team colors of the Eagles and the Chiefs — the two teams to compete last year.

This year, the logo features red and purple, which could imply a few things … should the conspiracy theory be true.

The Vikings and Ravens wear purple, while the Chiefs, Buccaneers, Cardinals, and 49ers wear red. This would give us the following potential matchups for the Super Bowl: Vikings vs. Chiefs, 49ers vs. Ravens, Cardinals vs. Ravens, and Buccaneers vs. Ravens.

There are a couple of red teams who are not Super Bowl contenders, though, as Arizona is 1-8 and Tampa Bay is 3-5. This would leave the Vikings vs. Chiefs or 49ers vs. Ravens.

The Chiefs and Ravens are both sitting at 7-2 currently, so they would make sense for a Super Bowl appearance. The 49ers are 5-3 after a phenomenal start to the season, and the Vikings have won four straight to move to 5-4.

This color scheme theory does not hold true with matchups before 2021, so if it is true, it is definitely a new thing. The theory is largely supported by the “NFL is scripted” crowd, and it’ll be interesting to see which teams actually do make it to the Super Bowl this year and if the colors match up with the logo.

While the color correlations are surely a coincidence, some fans shared their feelings on the theory and the potential matchups that go along with it.
