Super Bowl 55 ads and commercials to watch for in 2021

Almost as anticipated as the game itself, the ads and commercials that play during the NFL Super Bowl have become a tradition of their own throughout the years. The 2021 ads look to be no different, thanks to the leaked Super Bowl commercials set to make you laugh and think during the big game. Here, we go over some of the big ones to watch for between commercial breaks.

2021 Super Bowl commercials to look out for during the big game

I am going to do my best not to be the person I hate. I hate spoilers. If you know something good for you, let’s keep it that way. The same goes for the Super Bowl ads. I like being surprised and trying to get everyone to be quiet so we can hear what it says. I mean, for all the companies spending $5.6 million on a 30-second ad, they probably appreciate that.

In writing this, I had to see which Super Bowl commercials are coming down the pipeline in a few short days. I will do my best not to spoil any big surprises. However, I will point out some of the big commercials to look out for during Super Bowl LV.

Some traditional staples will not have commercials in this year’s Super Bowl

Due to the current economic markets, some major players have had to step away from the traditional Super Bowl ad. Instead, reallocating those funds to help their budgets or use that money to support relief efforts to end this virus.

Some notable omissions from the Super Bowl 55 festivities are Anheuser-Busch, Coke, and Pepsi. However, those come with a caveat. Budweiser will still produce a digital Super Bowl spot that will be promoted online, and AB InBev’s other brands, including Bud Light and Michelob ULTRA, will have commercials.

As for Pepsi, the parent company purchased six other ads for Mountain Dew and its Frito-Lay products that will air during the 2021 Super Bowl. Don’t forget they are the presenter of the Super Bowl Halftime Show featuring The Weeknd. Which, if we are honest, is a 12-minute commercial anyway.

Bud Light pulls off another mega Super Bowl commercial

Was there any doubt that Bud Light would knock it out of the park again? It’s almost tradition at this point. From the team up with Post Malone to the Bud Knight, they know how to do Super Bowl commercials right.

In 2021, that is no different. Bud Light is pulling out all the stops for one mega commercial that will air during the Super Bowl.

That’s not all they have in store. Bud Light will have two 60-second ads during the 2021 Super Bowl. One for the classic beer and another built around their new Bud Light Seltzer.

They aren’t the only beer company that has an ad that will air during the Super Bowl

Michelob ULTRA also steps up with a 60-second Super Bowl ad that will feature some of your favorite male and female athletes. Everyone from Peyton Manning, Brooks Koepka, to Serena Williams and Alex Morgan make appearances during the Super Bowl spot.

Where some commercials are built around showcasing a brand, Michelob ULTRA is taking a different approach. Instead, they ask a larger question about what happens when you find success and the journey it takes to reach the top. The same journey both the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers find themselves on right now.

Sam Adams also gets in on the fun

With the absence of Budweiser from the lineup, Sam Adams stepped up to throw their hat in the ring. What’s the worst thing that could happen if your cousin from Boston let loose Budweiser’s most iconic image on the city? To me, this commercial is “wicked smaht.”

The Doritos commercial is alright, alright, alright

I think that was subtle enough? In case you didn’t catch on, this ad features Matthew McConaughey. I’ll be honest — I love this commercial as I think any of you who grew up in the 90s will.

Get ready for the return of one of the most iconic discontinued products from them. It was also the centerpiece of one of the best Super Bowl commercials of all-time.

Cheetos asks one of the best one-hit wonders to help in its ad

I could tell you what happens, but if anyone else asks, it wasn’t me.

Not only does Shaggy make an appearance, but it centers around both Ashton Kutcher and his wife Mila Kunis and the surprise disappearance of their new snack mix.

As I said, it wasn’t me.

Tide makes a commercial with a star from a show that was about nothing

When it went off the air, Seinfeld was the number one show on TV. Tide brings one of its most iconic actors, Jason Alexander, to their Super Bowl ad. He is here to help remind you that just because there isn’t a stain, it doesn’t mean the hoodie isn’t dirty. That hit a little too close to home.

Also, I guarantee these things will be for sale the minute the commercial airs on Super Bowl Sunday.

Amazon takes Alexa to a new level this year

If they can cram it in, Amazon will put Alexa into anything.

Well, they found one more thing to put it in, and it might be their most popular product yet by a longshot.

Ford has a message of hope and resilience for the country and everyone watching

Not every commercial during the Super Bowl is directed at making you laugh. There is no time of the year with more eyes glued to a TV than on Sunday. That also means there is no better time to send a message than on Sunday. That is what Ford is doing with their 60-second spot during the game.

Rather than talking about their new cars, they talk about hope. Persevering through the troubled times we still find ourselves in )that are likely causing your parties to be a bit smaller this year) is the central theme.

Ford highlights ongoing efforts to fight the global health concerns, noting that “soon we will be what we were — touching, loving, living.” It also is a highlight to the #FinishStrong campaign, which focuses on donating PPE to underserved communities and designing new products to protect people — hopefully putting us one day closer to a long-overdue sense of normalcy, whatever that may look like anymore.
