Cincinnati Bengals vs. Baltimore Ravens

Sunday Night Football tonight will feature two teams with Super Bowl aspirations when the Cincinnati Bengals travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens. Both teams are currently tied with the Cleveland Browns with 2-2 records in a muddied AFC North. That means that this showdown could prove monumental when deciding who is crowned the division winner at the end of the season.
The Bengals are currently coming off of two straight double-digit wins over AFC East opponents. They easily handled the New York Jets two weeks ago and were on the winning side against the Miami Dolphins in Week 4 in a game that was riddled with controversy. Now, they travel to Baltimore where they easily dispatched the Ravens twice last season by a combined score of 82-38.
The Ravens, meanwhile, are one week removed from a brutal loss to the Buffalo Bills 23-20. Baltimore held a 17-point lead heading into the half and completely fell apart in the second part of the game. A controversial fourth-down call by head coach John Harbaugh was the final nail in Baltimore’s coffin en route to the loss.
[bet-promo id=”160004″ ]The opening betting lines in this one favor the home team Ravens by a little more than a field goal. That number makes sense considering Baltimore’s impressive home-field advantage and the fact that this is a divisional game. A number of times during the offseason, Baltimore players and coaching staff made reference to this game. After being embarrassed twice last year, it’s easy to see why the Ravens have had this one circled.
If the Ravens are the side that you’re leaning towards, one stat that might help is that Baltimore has gone 18-2 straight up in home prime-time games under Harbaugh. Additionally, this Ravens offense has been lights out, while Cincinnati’s defense has struggled. The Ravens currently rank 12th in yards per game, averaging 359.3. They have 1,437 yards of total offense, with QB Lamar Jackson accounting for more than 80% of those yards.
PFN’s Betting Director BJ Rudell broke down this game in his Week 5 picks and predictions.
“The betting line suggests this is an even matchup that favors the home squad. I agree with that assessment. This one could go back and forth, with Lamar Jackson — coming off a rough outing against Buffalo — proving once again to be the difference in front of a Baltimore crowd.”
