Sunday Night Football tonight is a huge matchup between two NFC East teams that are fighting to remain in playoff contention. Who is playing tonight, what time does the game start, and how can you watch it?

Who Plays on Sunday Night Football Tonight?

    Teams
New York Giants (7-5-1) at Washington Commanders (7-5-1)

    FedEx Field, Landover

Well, don’t look now, but the Washington Commanders have found a way to get back into the playoff conversation. Sunday Night Football tonight will showcase the surging Commanders as they play host to their NFC East rival New York Giants. These teams met just two short weeks ago in a game that ended in a 20-20 tie. This time around, the Commanders will look to get a win as they try to solidify a wild card spot.

Whoever wins this NFC East showdown holds the equivalent of a two-game lead on the other with three games left to play, earning a crucial head-to-head tiebreaker.

Luckily for Washington, the Giants are limping into this contest after losing five of their last six matchups. Most recently, New York was dealt a beatdown by the NFL’s best team in the Philadelphia Eagles, 48-22. The Giants have been dealing with a ton of injuries this season, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Their injury report continues to be extensive as they travel to Washington.

Meanwhile, the Commanders have been a completely different team since they made Taylor Heinicke their starting QB. However, it has been the excellent play of their defense that has really given the organization new life. They currently rank top four in overall defense, as well as top 10 in a number of important defensive metrics.

Additionally, a core part of this defense, Chase Young, will potentially make his return in this one.

“Still taking it one day at a time,” Young told reporters this week. “When I’m ready, I’ll be ready.”

However, with the season on the line for Washington, one has to think that Young will do all he can to get onto the field.

PFN’s Betting Director BJ Rudell broke this game down in his Week 15 picks and predictions.

“And for what feels like the 10th time this season, I’m making the same declaration — the overrated Giants cannot reach the postseason by running Saquon Barkley into the ground in the absence of a top-24 passing game.

The Commanders are more well-rounded on offense and are considerably better against the run. They should win surprisingly comfortably.”
