Stephen A. Smith Rips the Cowboys – ‘It’s Utterly Ridiculous and Asinine To Say They Have a Winning Culture’

Stephen A. Smith didn't hold anything back in response to Dan Orlovsky's comments that the Dallas Cowboys have a winning culture.

Football fans across the globe are no strangers to watching Stephen A. Smith’s shots at the Dallas Cowboys each time the team falls short in a regular or postseason game.

On Monday’s episode of First TakeStephen A. Smith, along with Shannon Sharpe, were in a heated debate with Dan Orlovsky, arguing against the premise that the Cowboys have a “winning culture.”

Stephen A. Smith Apart Of Heated Debate Involving Cowboys/Winning Culture

Today on First Take, things got contentious between Orlovsky, Smith, and Sharpe when arguing about the Cowboys’ winning culture.

Orlovsky says it’s “utterly ridiculous” to say the Cowboys don’t have a winning culture, which immediately caught both Smith and Sharpe’s attention — both reacted in shock.

“They’ve won 12 games three years in a row, guys!” said Orlovsky. “They absolutely have a winning culture.”

After Orlovsky’s comments, it appeared as if Smith was ready to jump out of his seat.

“What the hell is a winning culture!”

That was Smith’s reaction, eyes looking as if they were ready to pop out of their socket, trying to point to Orlovsky that in order to have a winning culture, a team needs to see a conference championship game appearance or more every two to three seasons.

Later on in the conversation, Sharpe says that usually when a team wins 12 games or more in three straight seasons — which is what the Cowboys have accomplished — that team finds themselves one game away from an appearance in the biggest game in the sport.

As Orlovsky mentioned earlier, not only did Dallas finish with 12 wins for the third season in a row, but they won the NFC East for the second time in three years. Yet again, however, their season ended in great disappointment, losing to Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers at home in the Wild Card round.

After they appeared poised to return to the NFC Championship Game as the conference’s No. 2 seed, the Cowboys extended their drought of failing to advance past the Divisional Round to 29 years.

Smith was still trying to get Orlovsky to answer his “what is a winning culture” question. Although Orlovsky would not get straight to the point and answer, Smith told the former NFL quarterback that 55 different franchises across the four professional sports leagues in North America have won at least one championship since the Cowboys’ last Super Bowl in 1995.

Smith closed the conversation by providing emphasis that the “Dallas Cowboys are not associated with having a winning culture because they don’t win.”
