‘Helluva Halftime Show’ — Stephen A. Smith Makes His Feelings Known on Kendrick Lamar Mentioning Drake During Performance at the Super Bowl

Stephen A. Smith, never one to hide his opinions, commented on Kendrick Lamar's performance during the Super Bowl 59 Halftime Show.

Kendrick Lamar had a great performance during the Super Bowl 59 halftime show. The 17-time Grammy-winning artist’s feud with Drake last year resulted in many iconic songs from both artists, and some doubted whether Lamar would perform the famous “Not Like Us” song at the Super Bowl.

Lamar sang it, and the entire stadium loved it. Even tennis legend Serena Williams made an appearance in the halftime show, and many people, apart from Drake’s fans, were in awe of it.

Stephen A. Smith Praises Kendrick Lamar’s Performance

ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith praised Lamar’s halftime performance in New Orleans. He also had doubts over whether the artist would sing the “Not Like Us” song, but Lamar didn’t hesitate and even mentioned Drake’s name during the performance.

“OMG…..OMG…… Kendrick Lamar did it,” Smith wrote. “Not only did he rock the beat of ‘Not Like Is’……he sang the lyrics. He did it. Mentioned ‘Drake’ by name too. Awwwww Damn! Helluva halftime show. The brother showed out. Salute!”

Five-time Grammy-winning artist SZA and star producer Mustard also joined Lamar during his halftime show performance. The fans present in the stadium looked the most excited about “Not Like Us,” and they even sang the controversial lyrics to express their feelings about the feud between the two superstar rappers.

Since the Super Bowl was held in New Orleans, many believed Lil Wayne should have been considered for the halftime show, but Lamar made the most of his opportunity and sang the song that won him five Grammy awards this year.

NFL World Reacts to Super Bowl 59 Halftime Show

Smith was not the only one who praised Lamar’s performance as several other people associated with the NFL were impressed and stunned by the artist name-dropping Drake at the Super Bowl.

Here are some of the other reactions:

“He playing with Drake,” LeSean McCoy said. “Kendrick Lamar did his sh…..”

Robert Griffin III added, “Kendrick Lamar was walking in a circle staring straight into Drake’s soul during ‘Not Like Us.’”

The Super Bowl 59 matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs was highly anticipated. The AFC West team was trying to become the first team in the NFL’s history to win three straight Super Bowls.

Unfortunately, the fans in the stadium and around the world were treated to a one-sided contest. Philadelphia completely dominated the Chiefs on both sides of the ball and had a 24-0 lead at halftime.

Mahomes struggled massively and arguably had the worst performance of his career. He threw two interceptions in the first half, including a pick-six, which was caught by Cooper DeJean.

The Eagles are in a prime position to register a sensational blowout win against the Chiefs, who were completely outplayed. Kansas City’s offensive line had issues throughout the season, but they were completely exposed in the biggest game of the season. As for Philadelphia, the NFC East team is on its way to winning the second Super Bowl in franchise history.

They last won in 2018 when they shocked Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. This year, they have made arguably the second-greatest quarterback in NFL history look very ordinary, capping out a dominating season.
