In a repeat of last season, the Pittsburgh Steelers finished with a 10-7 record — once again proving to be a tough, well-coached team capable of grinding out wins as an underdog in the regular season.
But once again, Pittsburgh’s playoff run was short-lived, mainly because of an offense that struggled to find its footing for most of the year and finished with a PFSN Offensive+ rating of 67.5 (D+).

Steelers Reportedly Interested in Daniel Jones
Pittsburgh’s 2024 quarterback situation was a revolving door between Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, neither of whom could establish long-term stability under center. The offense failed to consistently complement a solid defense that finished with a PFSN Defense+ rating of 78.7, leading the Steelers to continue their search for a true franchise QB.
According to a new report, Pittsburgh has an unexpected name on its radar — one that might give some fans a panic attack.
Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan dropped an intriguing report, stating that the Steelers have expressed interest in former New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.
“Source: There’s interest in former Giants QB Daniel Jones inside the Steelers organization,” Fillipponi tweeted. “Quote: ‘[The Steelers] could do a lot worse than Jones.’ With the belief he actually is a good fit for Arthur Smith’s offense. And Mike Tomlin’s preference for a mobile quarterback.”

Jones, a former first-round pick, is coming off a brutal 2024 season with the Giants. He played in 10 games, throwing for 2,070 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Jones’ QBR of 47.8 ranked 26th in the NFL, and his regular-season QB+ score of 64.1 (D; 32nd) shows that, statistically, he was one of the league’s worst starting quarterbacks.
Is Daniel Jones a Good Fit in Pittsburgh?
Across his NFL career, Jones has thrown for 70 touchdowns, rushed for another 15, and has the mobility that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has often valued at the position.
It’s also worth noting that new Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith had success in Tennessee with Ryan Tannehill, a quarterback who, like Jones, was a mobile redemption project.
Under Smith’s system, Tannehill experienced a career resurgence, leading the Titans to multiple playoff appearances. The hope in Pittsburgh could be that with a strong run game and an improved offensive structure, Jones might experience a similar turnaround.
Whether there is truth to this rumor and if the Steelers actually decide to make a serious push for Jones remains to be seen. Yet, with Wilson and Fields failing to solidify themselves as the starter, Pittsburgh appears to be keeping its options open.
