Pittsburgh Steelers great Cam Heyward has had enough of Aaron Rodgers’ prolonged decision-making process as the former Green Bay Packers, New York Jets quarterback weighs his next move. The Steelers and New York Giants have been left waiting after making it clear Rodgers is their top choice at quarterback.
Heyward believes Rodgers’ decision should be a simple one and isn’t interested in waiting around for a player who doesn’t seem sure of what he wants.

Steelers, Giants Wait on Free Agent QB Aaron Rodgers
After benching Justin Fields despite a 4-2 start in 2024, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin watched the former Chicago Bears quarterback sign with the New York Jets in free agency. Now, after missing out on Sam Darnold, the Steelers have seemingly also alienated Russell Wilson by leaving their 2024 starter waiting while they pursued other targets.
With Fields, Darnold, and possibly Wilson off the table, Pittsburgh running out of options in its search for a starting quarterback. Rodgers is reportedly considering offers from both the Steelers and Giants, but he appears in no hurry to decide.
After acquiring DK Metcalf, Pittsburgh could be a Super Bowl contender in 2025 — if a motivated Rodgers joins the team. A move to the Giants wouldn’t provide the same championship opportunity, so why is his decision taking so long?
Rumors of interest in the Minnesota Vikings could be one reason. While the Giants may not offer Rodgers a realistic shot at another Super Bowl, his former NFC North rivals might. After letting Darnold walk in free agency, the Vikings were expected to turn to 2024 first-round pick J.J. McCarthy, who missed his entire rookie season due to injury.
If the Vikings determine McCarthy isn’t quite ready to lead the team, Rodgers could be an ideal bridge quarterback for 2025.
Cam Heyward Unimpressed With Rodgers’ Indecisiveness
Whatever the reason for the delay, Heyward isn’t interested. Speaking on his podcast, “Not Just Football,” Heyward called out Rodgers and made it clear he wouldn’t be upset if the quarterback chose another team. As far as the seven-time Pro Bowler is concerned, the decision is simple.
“I ain’t doing that darkness retreat. I don’t need any of that crap,” Heyward said. “Either you want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or you don’t. That’s simple, that’s the pitch. If you want me to recruit, that’s the recruiting pitch. Pittsburgh Steelers — if you want to be part of it, so be it. If you don’t, no skin off my back.”
Steelers DL Cameron Heyward is tired of the Aaron Rodgers watch.

It’s hard to argue with Heyward. If the choice is between the Steelers and the Giants, the answer should be obvious if Rodgers is motivated to win.
In 14 seasons in Pittsburgh, Heyward ranks fourth all-time in games played and second all-time in sacks. After years of effort for the franchise, it’s easy to see why he lacks patience for Rodgers’ indecision.
