The NFL Scouting Combine is in full swing and college athletes are looking to improve their draft stock. Teams will be looking to find their next big star and there is no better stage to show off skills. Last year, Kansas City Chiefs rookie Xavier Worthy shot up draft boards after running a record 4.21 40-yard dash.
Texas Longhorns WR Isaiah Bond is confident that he will be able to beat that mark at the NFL Combine this year. The speedy receiver is poised to put on a show when he runs intending to break Worthy’s record. Worthy spent three years with the Longhorns, leaving before Bond transferred in from the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Isaiah Bond’s Bold Prediction
Bond is a speedster and has his sights set on getting that all-time NFL Combine record in the 40-yard dash. He has no doubt he’s walking away with the record. When the receivers do their drills on Saturday, March 1, time will tell if he can put his money where his mouth is.
“I’m going to break the record tomorrow for sure. I anticipate running 4.20 or possibly if I’m feeling great, I might run a 4.1,” said Bond in his press conference.

This is some confidence from Bond as no one has run this time in history. An assertion to breaking the record is a bold move but if he does run a 4.20, his draft stock will skyrocket. A 4.1 seems out of reach as no one has even come close to that before but the question remains whether Bond can be the first.
Bond’s Draft Projection
In PFSN’s latest 7-round mock draft by Joe DeLeone, Bond is predicted to land with the Buffalo Bills at Pick 62. The Bills didn’t have many consistent threats receiving the ball this season and still made it to the AFC Championship. Outside of the newly extended Khalil Shakir, the Bills couldn’t rely on their pass catchers consistently on a game-to-game basis. Bond would provide a new spark and speed threat for MVP Josh Allen to make use of.
Looking at what Bond can provide to NFL teams from PFN’s scouting report, his speed, and explosiveness will be one of his main strengths. His combination of speed and explosiveness translates into great route-running which would allow him to be a threat in all areas of the field. He can stretch the field, be a weapon after the catch with his speed, and attack the middle areas of the field with his route-running abilities.
While his speed is up there with the best, he plays with physicality as well. Because of his strong route-running, he positions himself well to use his body to make tough catches. Combining all of his attributes, Bond offers a threat all over the field.
His speed will be on display at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis and he will hear his name called at some point at the NFL Draft in April. If Bond breaks Worthy’s record, he might become a fringe first-round draft pick and earn himself a lot more money. Bond has a lot to prove and his performance at the NFL Combine could be the start.
