The Miami Dolphins quarterback injury woes continued in Week 6. Rookie quarterback Skylar Thompson, making his first start in place of Tua Tagovailoa, left Sunday’s game with a thumb injury and is questionable to return.
Dolphins QB Skylar Thompson Suffers Injury
After taking a hard hit in the first quarter against the Minnesota Vikings, Thompson’s hand and thumb area was bleeding. He was escorted to the locker room alongside a trainer.
Before exiting the game, Thompson had completed 7 of 13 attempts for 89 yards while taking one sack.
Teddy Bridgewater is active for today’s game, and he entered the contest after Thompson’s injury. Bridgewater was cleared from the NFL’s concussion protocol after leaving Miami’s Week 5 game against the New York Jets.

Bridgewater didn’t get a full week of practice, so the Dolphins opted to start Thompson, the club’s seventh-round pick in April. Tagovailoa remains out after suffering a concussion in Week 4, but he’s expected to return next week.
Thompson threw five touchdowns in the preseason and emerged as an exhibition star, but the Dolphins surely didn’t believe he’d be thrown into the fire this quickly. He completed 69.5% of his passes for 2,103 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions during his final year at Kansas State.
