“He Is Under Siege” – Skip Bayless Tabs Shedeur Sanders as Better Pro Prospect Than Caleb Williams

Skip Bayless unloads another hot take. Bayless believes that Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders is a better NFL prospect than USC QB Caleb Williams.

Colorado and USC face off this weekend in one of the most anticipated contests of the young college football season. The Buffaloes have received as much hype as one team can, with head coach Deion Sanders and his son, QB Shedeur Sanders, leading the way.

Meanwhile, all USC has done is win football games, with last season’s Heisman winner and current Heisman front-runner Caleb Williams looking spectacular along the way. Many NFL Draft analysts and scouts believe Williams is a generational prospect, comparing him to multiple MVP winner Patrick Mahomes.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Skip Bayless believes Sanders is the better pro prospect and let his voice be heard on Friday’s edition of “Undisputed.”

What Did Skip Bayless Say About Shedeur Sanders?

Bayless has never been short on hot takes and doesn’t mind going against the public narrative. Bayless has taken the stance that Bengals QB Joe Burrow is better than Mahomes and has stuck by it. Bayless had this to say on the Sanders vs. Williams topic:

“I’m projecting way into the future because we don’t have enough body of work from Shedeur yet. I’m gonna remind everyone out there that Shedeur Sanders has been sacked more than anyone in college football this year. He’s under siege on nearly every snap. He doesn’t move to run; he moves and slides to find the uncovered receiver. The more I watch him, the more he grows on me.”

Bayless points to the lack of a running game and an offensive line as reasons to believe Sanders can thrive in any system at the next level. Bayless also stated he believes Sanders is significantly bigger and able to withstand the physical punishment of the NFL game, whereas Williams may be barely 6’0″ tall.

    Comparing Sanders and Caleb Williams

To be fair to Bayless, Sanders has been outstanding in 2023. Comparing the two before the 2023 season may have seemed foolhardy, but at least now the two Pac-12 signal-callers can be discussed in the same breath.

Sanders has completed 77% of his passes for 1,400 yards and 11 touchdowns. Meanwhile, Williams has 1,200 yards passing and 15 touchdowns. Williams has done nothing to slow down the national narrative that he should be the No. 1 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft.
