‘Used Up All of Your Luck’ — Skip Bayless Fires Warning for Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs, Predicts One-and-Done in Playoffs

    Published on

While the Chiefs seemingly have managed to escape every tough situation they've faced, NFL analyst Skip Bayless thinks they'll be less fortunate in the postseason.

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are 12-1 and have the joint-best record in the NFL alongside the Detroit Lions. The reigning Super Bowl champions have won 15 straight one-possession games dating back to last season, which is an NFL record.

Kansas City has won games this season through a block field goal, botched snap, controversial pass interference call, and various other bizarre ways. As a result, many think that the Chiefs are just lucky and not a good football team. Skip Bayless is one of those critics, and he recently predicted that the AFC West team could be one-and-done in the playoffs.

Skip Bayless Is Not Impressed With the Kansas City Chiefs

In a recent segment on “The Skip Bayless Show,” the former Fox Sports analyst talked about how lucky the Chiefs have been this year. He further highlighted how nobody is scared to come to Arrowhead and predicted that they will get exposed soon.

“I’ve never seen anything like the 2024 Kansas City Chiefs, the luckiest team in the history of professional football, and it ain’t even close,” Bayless said. “The Kansas City Chiefs have won 12 games, seven of the 12 on the last possession, six of those seven at Arrowhead. Nobody is scared of Arrowhead anymore.”

He added, “They’re just hanging in and barely hanging on for dear life. … I am warning you, Chiefs Kingdom, when you do get to your first playoff game, it’s probably gonna be at home. I’m warning you when that happens, you’re going to be out of luck because you’ve used up all of your luck. … You Kansas City Chiefs, you will get exposed for what you really are and have been all year.”

Despite having the joint-best record in the NFL, the Chiefs have the 11th-best point differential (+56). They have failed to blow out teams this season, and no matter who the opposition is, Kansas City is always in a dogfight with them.

The close games have irked Mahomes and the rest of the team, but such results have prepared them for the postseason. We do not see many blowouts in the playoffs, and since the Chiefs have played close games throughout the year, they will be much more comfortable in similar situations when they come across the likes of the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, and Houston Texans.

Bayless said that the Chiefs are the luckiest team in the NFL, but a team cannot get lucky for 15 straight games. Kansas City has one of the best quarterbacks in Mahomes, who always finds a way to win games. They also have Chris Jones, who should be unanimously considered the most clutch defensive player in the league, as he has closed multiple games for the Chiefs both in the regular season and playoffs.

Patrick Mahomes Is Set To Get a Big Gift for Christmas

Mahomes and the Chiefs offense have played significantly better since DeAndre Hopkins’ addition to the team. The two-time NFL MVP is also getting better every week, and he is set to receive a pretty good gift on Christmas.

The Chiefs have opened the practice window for Hollywood Brown, and the speedy wideout could make his debut in a couple of weeks. The team’s fans are already hyped and looking forward to him contributing in the upcoming crucial stretch of games.

Brown signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs this offseason but got hurt in the preseason. Getting him back will be huge for Kansas City as they’ll pair him alongside another speedster in Xavier Worthy.

Having fast receivers like Brown and Worthy will create opportunities for Hopkins, Kelce, and the running game. The Chiefs are getting healthy at the right time, and since their quarterback is no longer throwing silly interceptions, good luck to any team that is trying to get a result against them.
