Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens is married to one of the most famous sportswomen in the world. Gold medal-winning gymnast Simone Biles and Owens married earlier in 2023, and here are the details of their relationship timeline.
How Did Jonathan Owens and Simone Biles Meet?
Biles and Owens first met on the celebrity dating app Raya in March 2020 when he was playing for the Texans.
It was Biles who made the first move, she told Wall Street Journal Magazine. “I saw him, and I was like, ‘Oh, he’s pretty cute,’ so I said hi, and then I saw that he was in the Houston area. So we started chatting a little bit, and then we went to hang out a week or two later.”
Speaking to Texas Monthly in 2021, Owens shared, “I didn’t know who she was. I just hadn’t heard of her, and when I told her that, that’s one of the things she liked.”
The COVID pandemic hit, the 2020 Olympic Games were postponed, and the couple took that time to get closer. Owen said, “It was one of the few times in her life where everything was just shut off, and she couldn’t do anything. So we used it to get to know each other. Really get to know each other. It created our bond and made it stronger. Now I’m so thankful.”
The couple made it Instagram official in August 2020 and have continued to share insight into their relationship ever since.
Tokyo Olympic Games
After spending their first Christmas and Valentine’s Day together, Biles left to participate in the Olympics in Tokyo in the summer of 2021.

Biles entered the games as a four-time Olympic gold medalist but couldn’t repeat her success at the 2016 games in Rio de Janeiro. She won a silver and a bronze during the 2021 games. Her participation was dominated by Biles’ withdrawal from individual events to focus on her mental health.
Their Engagement and Wedding
In February 2022, Biles shared on her Instagram that the couple were engaged. “THE EASIEST YES. I can’t wait to spend forever & ever with you, you’re everything I dreamed of and more! let’s get married, FIANCÉ,” Biles captioned.
Owens had proposed to Biles on Valentine’s Day at a restaurant. Biles told People that “There was a photographer there, which now I know he set it up,” she told the publication. “I started shaking really bad because then I was like, ‘Wait, hold up. What if he proposes?’ But I didn’t want to get my hopes up. And then he did it.”
In May 2022, Biles shared that they had decided on a venue and a date for the wedding. “One step closer to becoming Mrs. Owens,” Biles captioned.
A year later, in April 2023, Biles and Owens married in a small wedding ceremony. The pair obtained a marriage license from Texas as they had to legally marry in the US. The couple shared that they wanted a destination wedding, which would take place shortly.
In May, the pair got their destination wedding in a ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The wedding was an extravagant ceremony that had 144 guests attend and saw Biles wear four different dresses.
Owens signed for the Packers later that month, on May 12, 2023. Biles has been seen at Packers games supporting Owens and calls him her “Soulmate.”
