Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett must overcome losing Russell Wilson in 2022. Will Lockett produce enough to be on your fantasy football roster, and what is his current ADP in fantasy drafts?
Tyler Lockett ADP | Is he worth his current price in fantasy drafts?
Lockett’s current ADP is 94th overall as the 40th wide receiver selected in fantasy drafts. This means he’s being taken in the seventh round of standard leagues. Other players drafted in his range include Drake London and Brandon Aiyuk.
Lockett has long been a favorite player of mine. I loved him as a prospect out of Kansas State. His explosiveness and route running translated wonderfully and helped him overcome a slight 5’10”, 182-pound frame that caused him to drop to the third round of his draft class.
His pairing with Wilson was magical. Lockett has an impressive average yards per catch mark of 13.5. He’s totaled 73 or more receptions in three straight years and has 36 touchdowns over the last four seasons. He’s a respected playmaker who has finished no lower than WR15 since 2018.
And yet, he’s being drafted much lower due to the Seahawks’ abysmal quarterback situation. Geno Smith is the better option and was just named the starter. Lockett will suffer a drop-off but should still be a productive player who justifies being taken where most No. 2 receivers are going.
Lockett’s projected fantasy value in 2022
Rostering Lockett has always been a bet on his breakout games. He’s never been a consistent threat for 100 yards. He’s been as likely to bust for fantasy purposes as to log over 100 yards and multiple scores.
That won’t change in 2022. Lockett is a perfect depth option behind higher-level starting receivers. You only want Lockett starting or in the Flex for a handful of games, and hopefully, you’ll start him for the right three or four he’ll go off.
He’s a premier variance player by nature. Smith’s presence makes it less likely Lockett will enjoy as many big games as he had with Wilson each year. His ceiling in those breakout games also drops from someone who could win an entire matchup on his own to being a swing piece.
I like having Lockett on my roster since his role has been the same for years. But relying on him to be more than a WR3 on a top-heavy receiver team or WR4 is dangerous. He could go half the season without a good fantasy output.
Make sure your roster is ready for that type of spell.
