New Orleans Saints star wide receiver Michael Thomas is back on the field and looking to make an impact in 2022. Will Thomas produce enough to be on your fantasy football roster, and what is his current ADP in fantasy drafts?
Michael Thomas ADP | Is he worth his current price in fantasy drafts?
Thomas’ current ADP is 67th overall as the 29th wide receiver selected in fantasy drafts. This means he’s being taken in the seventh round of standard leagues. Other players drafted in his range include Jerry Jeudy and Amari Cooper.
We’re certainly more optimistic about Thomas, as he sits 55th overall and 23rd amongst receivers in our 2022 WR fantasy rankings. The reason being? Thomas has elite production in his recent past, even if he did miss a season and a half of games due to his ankle injury.
Now paired with Jameis Winston, the sky is the limit for Thomas. He’s working back from a hamstring injury that has his Week 1 status in jeopardy, though.
Thomas’ projected fantasy value in 2022
There are several unknowns about Thomas’ availability and ability to make a big impact. For as optimistic as I am, it’s hard to know whether he’ll be on the field all year and if he’ll have the chemistry with Winston as Mike Evans had. Therefore, his current ADP as a third receiver or backup Flex option is completely justified.
In theory, Thomas could be a top-10 receiver and the steal of this fantasy draft cycle. He’s that dominant when he’s on the field, and this offense will still cater to his strengths. But it’s also possible he’s not the same playmaker he once was, or he’ll miss time sporadically with cascading injuries.
Is Thomas worth the risk? He is to me. You need several rolls of the dice to work out to win a fantasy league. He’s the highest upside player in his range.
