The 2022 fantasy football season is truly underway as drafts fire off across the nation, meaning now is the time to dive into Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen’s ADP to determine whether or not fantasy managers are receiving a value on draft day. Josh Allen ADP | Is he worth his current price in fantasy drafts?
As we draw closer to prime draft season for fantasy football, Allen currently has an ADP of 22, coming off the board as the QB1. In Superflex leagues, Allen is typically the first overall pick, given the combination of upside and positional scarcity.
In PFN’s 2022 fantasy football redraft rankings, Allen is currently the QB1 with an ADP of 33. I am sitting basically in the middle of both ADPs, ranking Allen as my QB1 and 29th overall ranked player. However, be sure to check back as rankings will fluctuate between now and the start of the season.
Allen is as good as it gets from a fantasy perspective. The only problem for me is his ADP. While Allen is worth a late-second/early-third-round pick, I’m not typically one to draft a QB early. Usually, I look for a second-tier QB who is sliding or wait until the later rounds to select mine.
By all means, if you want to pay the premium, Allen should be worth it. Even in my projections, I have Allen blowing out the field in 2022. It’s a personal decision as there is a significant opportunity cost involved, given the talent of players in his neck of the draft.
Josh Allen’s projected fantasy value in 2022
There’s not much left to be said when talking about Allen. Over his first two NFL seasons, he completed just 56.3% of his passes and threw for 5,163 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions. His upside came on the ground, posting 1,141 yards with 17 TDs on the ground during those seasons.
In 2020, Allen finished as the QB1 in fantasy and became just the third QB since 2014 to cross the 400-point threshold (405.2). He generated 4,544 passing yards, 421 rushing yards, and 45 touchdowns on his way to a second-place finish in MVP voting.
Last year, Allen proved this was indeed no fluke. He was once again the QB1 and became the first player in fantasy history with multiple 400-point seasons. Throwing for 4,407 yards with 36 passing TDs and six rushing TDs, Allen was a top-12 QB 11 times, with seven games inside the top three, making him not only the top scorer but also the most consistent performer. The best of both worlds.
I don’t see that changing in 2022, as he comes as the No. 1 ranked fantasy QB on my board.
You’ll be hard-pressed to find a more well-constructed lineup from top to bottom than Buffalo’s. The Bills added playmaker James Cook out of Georgia to pair with Devin Singletary as their third-down back.
They also initially added Jamison Crowder to replace Cole Bealey, but the job has been won based on all reports by Isaiah McKenzie, bringing more explosiveness to a position that drew over 100 targets the last three seasons. Throw in Stefon Diggs to complete the best QB/WR duo in the NFL — plus a breakout Gabriel Davis — and Allen has everything needed to blow the expectations out of the water and lead Bills Mafia to the promised land.
