Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is looking to lead the NFL’s top-scoring offense once again. Will Prescott produce enough to be on your fantasy football roster, and what is his current ADP in fantasy drafts?
Dak Prescott ADP | Is he worth his current price in fantasy drafts?
Prescott’s current ADP is 74th overall as the eighth quarterback selected in fantasy drafts. This means he’s being taken in the sixth round of standard leagues. Other players drafted in his range include Jalen Hurts and Russell Wilson.
Prescott represents a firm line between quarterbacks who have elite fantasy potential and a handful of good but not top-end starters. Hurts is a fantastic dual-threat who makes up for his mediocre passing numbers with massive rushing upside. Neither Wilson nor Prescott can be as explosive on the ground as Hurts.
There’s a cross between the consistency of Prescott and the variance of Hurts that intersects. It’s fair to want a more consistent fantasy quarterback. If you do, Prescott is a better value than Joe Burrow, who has produced similar numbers but is being drafted 15 picks before Prescott.
Is Prescott worth his current ADP? Yes, and passing on him leaves you with few options to rely upon.
Prescott’s projected fantasy value in 2022
The issue with starting Prescott is his limited ceiling. He produced 18 touchdowns on the ground until 2019, then just seven over the last three years. The only way he breaks into the top-five quarterback mix is to see more rushing opportunities near the goal line.
It’s not necessary to have such a dominant passer. But you can’t afford to miss on whoever you take. Should you choose to use capital later on Prescott, you’ll have to compensate for the point loss with an advantage elsewhere.
Prescott will provide the right balance between cost and output for many fantasy managers. I wouldn’t want anyone who doesn’t have top-eight quarterback potential. Prescott has that upside and a high floor.
