Courtland Sutton ADP | Is he worth his current price in fantasy drafts?

As we draw closer to prime fantasy draft season, Sutton currently has an ADP of 56, coming off the board as the WR21. For comparison, Jerry Jeudy is going around seven picks later than Sutton as the WR25 (ADP 63).

In PFN’s 2022 fantasy football redraft rankings, Sutton is currently the WR13 with an ADP of 31, showing a far more bullish outlook. I fall more in line with PFN’s rankings. While they are a consensus, I have Sutton as my WR9 and ranked 24th overall. However, be sure to check back as rankings will fluctuate between now and the start of the season.

From the minute we expected a change at QB, Sutton was a prime candidate for me. When it became known Russell Wilson was coming to town, I have led the bandwagon. Sutton is who I have planted my flag on for the 2022 fantasy season as my ride-or-die “my guy.”

I do miss the days when Sutton was going in the WR30-36 range. But as fantasy managers have caught on, he’s steadily moved up in drafts. But I’m still buying.

You don’t need to draft Sutton as the WR9. That takes so much value out when you draft a player at or near their ceiling. But I would reach a round ahead of ADP to secure Sutton as my WR2 or WR3 creating a substantial value in the early parts of your upcoming fantasy draft.

Courtland Sutton’s projected fantasy value in 2022

Sutton had a breakout year in 2019 with 72 catches for 1,112 yards and six touchdowns, earning his first Pro Bowl selection. Now, over a full year removed from a 2020 torn ACL, Sutton is Wilson’s new version of DK Metcalf. He has a proven ability to be an alpha on an offense.

Last year, only 51% of Sutton’s air yards (1,509) were converted into actual yards (776). That won’t be the case with Wilson, who is one of the NFL’s best deep-ball passers and led the NFL in intended air yards per attempt last year at 9.9.

Throw in Nathaniel Hackett’s offense, plus the unfortunate injury to Tim Patrick opening up more volume, and everything screams Sutton is set to explode. This is by no means me also discrediting Jeudy, who some feel can be the lead receiver. Jeudy is coming off an injury-plagued season where he found little success, both due to slow development and poor quarterback play. He has 950-to-1,000-yard upside, if not more.

As a lower-end WR2/high-end WR3, Jeudy should be a great pick and one I would be happy about if I missed on Sutton and wanted a piece of this offense. It’s just that Sutton takes that same upside and cranks it to 11.

Come hell or high water, I’m leaving drafts with Sutton on my roster.
