Coach Prime’s Son Shilo Sanders Gears Up for 2025 NFL Draft With Intense Practice at Colorado Facility

Colorado Buffaloes safety Shilo Sanders is back in Boulder, Colo., after taking a break after the Buffaloes’ season-finale loss to the BYU Cougars in the Alamo Bowl. With the NFL Draft scheduled for April, he’s focusing on improving his skills and fitness in intense preparation for better chances of making it to the league.

Projected to be picked in the later rounds or potentially go undrafted, Sanders has always wanted to be a part of the NFL, and now he’s working hard to make that a reality.

Shilo Sanders Preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft

In a short clip taken from a “Well Off Media” YouTube video, posted on Jan. 16, Sanders was seen doing drills at Colorado’s training facility.

This dream of playing in the NFL is not new for Sanders. During last year’s NFL Honors, he openly expressed his desire to play for either the Dallas Cowboys or Atlanta Falcons. He even spoke directly to the team’s owners, Arthur Blank and Jerry Jones, both of whom have strong ties to Deion Sanders, his father, from his playing career.

There’s also the ongoing conversation about the possibility of Sanders and his brother, Shedeur Sanders, playing for the same NFL team. Shedeur is projected to be one of the top picks in the upcoming draft, with Pro Football Network’s latest mock pegging him as the No. 2 overall pick to the Cleveland Browns, who need an answer to their quarterback issues.

If they do get to team up, Coach Prime might just take on an NFL role. Although he’s constantly reiterated that he wants to stay in Boulder, he mentioned one scenario that might see him become the sideline leader in the league.

On Jan. 8, he sat down on “Good Morning America” and made it known that if both Shilo and Shedeur are selected to play for the same NFL team, he will consider taking a head coaching job, given the seat is empty.

The two brothers have been coached by Deion since high school and followed him from Jackson State to Colorado.

Shilo recorded 67 total tackles in his 2024 campaign, with 44 being solo. He also defended two passes and had one sack with one forced fumble. Meanwhile, Shedeur, regarded as one of the top QBs in the 2025 pool of prospects, alongside Miami’s Cam Ward, threw for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
