Just like any other dad, Deion Sanders is conservative of his son, Shedeur Sanders. Coach Prime has been quite vocal about his likes and dislikes of Shedeur potentially landing with an unfavorable team. He even threatened to pull an Eli Manning if necessary, just in case the Colorado Buffaloes quarterback gets picked by a not-so-suitable franchise in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Shedeur Sanders revealed a similar instance of his dad recently, where Coach Prime repeatedly called him during his interview with the Tennessee Titans.

It has been a busy week for the younger Sanders, even though he did not physically participate in the East-West Shrine Bowl in Arlington, Texas. He was an interview-only prospect and met with a couple of teams that are potentially in contention for him.
Among them were the Titans, who currently hold the No. 1 pick of the 2025 NFL Draft. The franchise’s top brass met with Sanders during Shrine Bowl week for about 45 minutes.
While speaking to Jane Slater of NFL Network, the Buffaloes QB mentioned a hilarious incident where Coach Prime continuously called him out of anxiety, and Shedeur had to assure his dad that he was poised enough to handle the situation on his own.
“The thing was, my dad was calling me,” Shedeur said with a big laugh. “That was the funniest thing. You know, he has separation anxiety. So yeah, he kept calling me. I said, ‘Pops, it’s over with. It’s time for me to stand on my own now.’ The coaches enjoyed that,” he added.
This frequent father-son interaction often raised eyebrows, with experts criticizing whether such interventions are feasible in the long run. Shedeur, as a responsible son, shrugged off the hate and mentioned that he didn’t see anything wrong with his father’s involvement.
“I didn’t know your parents wanting the best for you and being involved was a problem,” Sanders said this week when speaking to reporters. He also mentioned that he is the most guaranteed risk any team that wants him on the team can take.
“We went, and we changed the program at Jackson [Jackson State],” Sanders said per SI. “We went to Colorado, changed the program. And we did everything people didn’t think we was able to do. That’s why I know I’m the most guaranteed risk you can take,” he added.
This season has been phenomenal for Sanders. He recorded 4,134 passing yards and 37 touchdowns with a completion rate of 74% and won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
