Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders is one of the most highly touted quarterbacks in this year’s NFL Draft, with experts picking him to go off the board early in the first round.
It’s no secret that the New York Giants are looking to hit the reset button on their franchise. After moving on from former top pick Daniel Jones, all signs point to them selecting a quarterback with the third overall pick. Sanders seems like a perfect fit.

Giants Predicted To Draft Shedeur Sanders
PFSN’s Jacob Infante predicted Sanders going to the New York Giants at pick No. 3 in Round 1. In his seven-round mock draft, the team stays put and watches Sanders fall to them.
However, Infante noted that the Giants might need to trade up to make the Sanders pick a reality. He predicted Miami (FL)’s Cam Ward to go one spot ahead of Sanders at No. 2.
Infante wrote: “The New York Giants might need to trade up from No. 3 if they want a quarterback in the first round. In this scenario, they stay put and still get their future starter.
“A smart, accurate quarterback who improved consistently in college, Shedeur Sanders has the tools to start in the NFL. The Giants have some pieces in place for him to work with, but when you get a shot at a potential franchise quarterback, you don’t pass it up,” Infante added.

Giants Banking on Darius Slayton, Malik Nabers
Looking at the Giants’ free agency strategy, it’s clear they’re confident in the skill players currently on the roster. The only piece missing is a starting quarterback.
New York inked veteran receiver Darius Slayton to a three-year, $36 million ($22 million fully guaranteed) contract. That is roughly $12 million per year, or the same amount of money they were unwilling to pay Saquon Barkley last offseason.
Slayton will pair up with last year’s top pick Malik Nabers on the outside, with Wan’Dale Robinson lining up in the slot, to form what could be a pretty lethal receiving corps. Jalin Hyatt — a third-round pick in 2023 — could be the odd man out.
ESPN’s Jordan Raanan broke it down as such:
“Slayton is only 28 years old so there shouldn’t be much of a drop-off on the horizon, even though he’s reliant on his speed. If anything, this could prompt some sort of move with 2023 third-round pick Jalin Hyatt after a frustrating season. Hyatt wasn’t thrilled with falling behind Slayton on the depth chart last summer and the veteran’s re-signing puts a significant role for Hyatt in serious question.”

Slayton caught 39 balls for 573 yards and two touchdowns last season. Nabers — the sixth overall pick in last year’s draft — quickly emerged as a star wideout, hauling in 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. He broke the Giants’ single-season franchise record for receptions.
The Giants also re-upped Ihmir Smith-Marsette on a one-year deal, although he’s expected to reprise his role as a kick returner only. He logged just six total snaps on offense in 2024. Montrell Washington and Bryce Ford-Wheaton round out the depth chart at receiver.
