‘There Are Some Issues With Shedeur’ — NFL Analyst Says Only Andrew Luck-Level Prospect Would Justify Trading Away T.J. Watt

NFL analyst Steve Kim reacted to Colin Cowherd saying that the Steelers should trade T.J. Watt to acquire the pick to select Shedeur Sanders.

NFL analyst Colin Cowherd is never hesitant to deliver his hot takes. He can often be heard on his show making bold proclamations about football and basketball. Recently, he claimed that the Pittsburgh Steelers should trade star linebacker T.J. Watt so that they can acquire a high draft pick and select Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

Media Personality Thinks Steelers Would Be Crazy To Trade Away T.J. Watt

Media personality Steve Kim appeared on “Fearless with Jason Whitlock” on Friday, Jan. 17, to talk about various topics. One they touched on was Cowherd’s proposal for the Steelers to trade Watt so that they could acquire Sanders. Kim hugely disagreed, saying he does not think Watt should be traded unless it is for a quarterback who is on the same level as Andrew Luck was as a prospect.

“Didn’t he … propose giving up T.J. Watt? That’s a non-starter, I’ll be honest with you butter. That guy is probably the most untouchable player on that particular roster. I’m not making any type of trade that involves him, well, regardless at all, but unless I know that that quarterback is a John Elway type of prospect or what Andrew Luck was considered coming out of Stanford.”

“I think there are some issues with Shedeur that people are now questioning. There’s a reason why a lot of people have already planted their flag on Cam Ward being the presumptive No. 1 pick. Look, I don’t believe Shedeur Sanders is going to get out of the first round. I think there’s a premium on quarterbacks, they’re always overdrafted — the Steelers did it with Kenny Pickett about two years ago who, three years later, is not even on the roster.”

“You have Russell Wilson. You have Justin Fields. I don’t know. It’s still not the worst quarterback room in the league. You still made the playoffs, and I know people are gonna argue, well, that was a mediocre playoff run … but that seems like an awful steep price for a player that a lot of draft boards do not actually have in their top 5-10.”

As things stand, the Pittsburgh Steelers will likely need to trade up to acquire Shedeur Sanders. Sanders is projected to be a top pick as one of the two highest-rated quarterbacks in the draft. The Steelers have the 21st pick after losing in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.
