Disappointing is the best way to describe the Dallas Cowboys’ 2024 season. An offseason where Jerry Jones planned on going “all in” saw them pass on every prominent free agent and start the season with a thin running back room.
Then, injuries to Micah Parsons, Dak Prescott, and others during the season further derailed the Cowboys, and they finished with just seven wins during the year.
With no major signs of the Cowboys looking to improve the squad, three-time Super Bowl champion and NFL personality, Shannon Sharpe tore down owner and General Manager Jerry Jones, claiming the billionaire was resistant to spending the money on the team.

Shanon Sharpe Blasts Cowboys GM, Predicts They Won’t Reach Super Bowl 60
The Cowboys’ sole free-agent signing during the 2024 offseason was linebacker Eric Kendricks, while they retained talent in the form of long snapper Trent Sieg, cornerbacks Jourdan Lewis and C.J. Goodwin, and defensive lineman Carl Davis Jr., to name a few.
The team notably passed on top free-agent running backs, such as Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry, the NFL’s two leading rushers in 2024. Dallas then went on to finish 27th in total rushing yards (1,705) and 32nd in total rushing touchdowns (six) while also committing the second-most fumbles (12).
Fast-forward through a 7-10 season full of question marks and poor play, Sharpe ripped apart Jones and the Cowboys front office during a recent episode on his NightCap podcast, adding that their decades-long wait for the Super Bowl was going to continue next year.
“I don’t get the Cowboys. Sometimes, I wonder if they know what they are doing.”
“Guess what we about have to worry about, Cowboys in the Super Bowl.”
Sharpe claimed that the Cowboys knew their requirements, such as WR2, running back room, and defensive tackle, but they were hesitant to spend the money.
“[They] know what the problem is, and they are not going to do anything and solve it because solving problems costs money.
“Jerry doesn’t have to spend the money. He has the most valuable franchise in the world. If you talk about Barcelona, you talk about Manchester United, whatever. If you talk about a sports franchise, the Cowboys are the most valuable, and it’s not even close. So, there’s really no incentive for him to spend the money.”
According to Forbes, the Cowboys are the most valuable sports franchise in the world and are valued at $10.1 billion. Jones has often been criticized by fans and analysts alike for his lack of spending on free agent signings and contract extensions, and Sharpe even claimed he wasn’t on the level of other General Managers in the NFL.
Sharpe Doesn’t Believe Jones Is as Good a GM as Howie Roseman or Brett Veach
The former Broncos tight further revealed during the episode that there was no comparison between Jones and other top General Managers in the NFL, such as Howie Roseman, Eric DeCosta, and Brett Veach,
“You saying Jerry Jones is as good a GM as Howie [Roseman] or Eric DeCosta, no, absolutely not. Or Brett Veach in Kansas City, absolutely not.”
“Look, Jerry just be talking, and we listen to it, but guess what I ain’t gotta listen to him on – media day. Do you know that night when both teams go to the Super Bowls? We ain’t gotta worry about that.”
However, Cowboys Vice President Stephen Jones has claimed that the team will adopt a “selectively aggressive” approach this season, and it remains to be seen if Jones and Jerry hold true to their comments about improving the team. Until then, Sharpe and the Cowboys fans will likely remain skeptical.
