    Who Is the Indianapolis Colts Head Coach?

    The Colts’ current head coach is Shane Steichen. Steichen was hired this February after a long coaching search. With Steichen as offensive coordinator, the Chargers’ Justin Hebert won Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2020, and the Eagles’ Jalen Hurts finished second in MVP voting last season.

    Steichen is the 22nd head coach in the Colts’ 70-year history. The team’s previous four head coaches won at least 10 games and made the playoffs in their first full season.

    How Long has Shane Steichen Been the Colts Head Coach?

    This is Steichen’s first season as Colts head coach. After playing quarterback at UNLV, Steichen started his coaching career as an offensive assistant at Louisville. He moved on to the NFL the next season as a defensive assistant with the Chargers. Steichen was an NFL assistant for 12 seasons with the Chargers, Browns, and Eagles.

    Steichen was named Chargers offensive coordinator for the 2020 season after being in the role on an interim basis for part of the 2019 campaign. Steichen became the Eagles offensive coordinator in 2021.

    What Is Steichen’s Record with Indianapolis?

    This is Steichen’s first season as the Colts’ head coach and his first head coaching job at any level. As an NFL assistant coach, his teams only had a winning record five times in 12 seasons.

    Has Steichen Ever Won a Super Bowl?

    No. Steichen made the Super Bowl last season with the Eagles as the team’s offensive coordinator. His teams have a 3-3 record in three playoff appearances.

    Who Was the Colts Head Coach Before Shane Steichen?

    Frank Reich was the Colts head coach before Steichen. Reich was fired after a 3-5-1 start last season. The Colts hired former Colts center Jeff Saturday as interim head coach. Saturday won one game in the final eight contests.

    Reich was 40-33-1 in five seasons as the Colts head coach, with two playoff appearances. The Colts lost the final two games of the 2021 season to miss the playoffs. In Week 18, Indianapolis lost by 15 points to a Jacksonville team that had lost 14 games.
