Saturday night was not a pleasant one for NFL legend Deion Sanders and his sons. The Colorado Buffaloes suffered a huge 36-14 loss at the hands of the BYU Cougars in the Alamo Bowl.
It was a significant moment for Coach Prime because it was his last game with his sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, in Colorado jerseys. Despite all the setbacks, the 57-year-old coach gave a warm sendoff to all his players with a powerful speech.

On Saturday, the Buffaloes finally ended the program’s three-year bowl-game drought. Largely thanks to Coach Prime, who fulfilled the promise in his second season at Boulder with a 9-3 regular-season record, Colorado is back — despite the loss.
After the game, Sanders cheered up the entire team by letting them know what they meant for the program and how they succeeded in taking new strides. They are the founding pillars of “New Colorado,” which aspires to win a national championship in the coming years.

“Throughout each and every one of you, we didn’t get the result that we want. God is going to present you with a multitude of moments that you gotta have victory in,” Sanders said. “You gotta win them. You gotta dominate them so you can elevate to the next level. If you don’t win and dominate your moments in life, you’re not going to advance in life.
“So understand moments; you only have a multitude of moments. You never know when it’s going to happen for you, never know when it’s going to be there, but you’ve got to dominate your moment and seize the moment.
“We did all the seizing we talked about tonight. You had opportunities. Let’s be better. Let’s not talk about one another. Let’s not hate on one another. Let’s be there for one another. We are good with that.”
It has been a successful season for Coach Prime, with senior players like Shedeur, Shilo, Travis Hunter, LaJohntay Wester, Will Sheppard, Jimmy Horn Jr., and Jaylen Wester taking their talents to the NFL.
With two prospects projected to land in the top five and undeniable opportunities for recruits and transfers, 2024 set the foundation for the next era of Colorado football. Despite the underwhelming ending, the future seems bright for Coach Prime and the program he’s revived.
