Tory Carter NFL Draft Scouting Report | Fullback

Positives: Nice-sized, lead-blocking fullback who gives great effort. Intense, plays with a nasty attitude and works to annihilate opponents. Explosive at the point, strong and knocks back defenders, removing them from the action. Bends his knees and plays with leverage.

Negatives: Marginally productive as a ball carrier throughout his college career. Show stiffness in his game. Engulfed at the point by taller defenders.

Analysis: Carter is a throwback fullback who plays all out and gets the most from his ability. He lacks great upside and is unlikely to be drafted, but he could make a roster that keeps five backs and needs a lead blocker.

Ryder Anderson NFL Draft Scouting Report | Defensive Line

Positives: Lanky defensive end who flashes athleticism. Bends his knees, plays with leverage, and gets off the snap with a quick first step. Nimble, moves well about the field, and is rarely off his feet. Possesses good change-of-direction skills and flows well laterally.

Negatives: Has a thin build and gets easily ridden from his angle of attack by a single opponent. Rarely made an impact at the college level.

Analysis: Anderson possesses excellent length and decent play speed, and comes with growth potential. He must get bigger and stronger to have a chance at the next level.

2021 NFL Draft | SEC Scouting Reports: Mississippi State Bulldogs

C.J. Morgan NFL Draft Scouting Report | Safety

Positives: Smart, hard-working safety who saw limited playing time the past season and a half due to a knee injury. Plays disciplined football, keeps the action in front of him, and correctly diagnoses plays. Fires up the field defending the run and gives a lot of effort.

Negatives: Inefficient and does not take proper angles to the action. Lacks a closing burst. Displayed nominal play speed before the knee injury.

Analysis: Morgan was a college safety who got the most from his ability, but comes with average size, poor speed, and now has an injury history that must be checked out.

Dareuan Parker NFL Draft Scouting Report | Offensive Line

Positives: Wide-bodied blocker who is only effective in confined quarters. Sets with a wide base, bends his knees, and keeps his feet moving. Quickly sets up off the snap, shows strength, and controls defenders when he stays square. Keeps his head on a swivel and always looks for someone to hit. Fires into blocks and easily turns defenders from the point.

Negatives: Lacks footwork and cannot slide in pass protection. Heavy-footed and rumbles around the field.

Analysis: Parker was a solid blocker at the college level and comes with next-level size, but he’s a limited athlete with marginal upside.

For information on Mississippi State linebacker Erroll Thompson, check out his 2021 NFL Draft Profile.

Greg Eiland NFL Draft Scouting Report | Offensive Line

Positives: Nice-sized college blocker who is best in a small area. Bends his knees, starts with good leverage, and keeps his head on a swivel. Quick, immediately gets into blocks, and stays square. Strong at the point and engulfs opponents altogether. Possesses terrific blocking vision.

Negatives: Stiff and struggles to adjust. Lacks footwork in space and bends at the waist. Often late with his hands. Haphazard in his movement and must improve his balance.

Analysis: Eiland is a size prospect who showed flashes of ability, yet never elevated his game the past two seasons. He offers possibilities at right tackle or guard, and is destined for the practice squad.

Kobe Jones NFL Draft Scouting Report | Defensive Line

Positives: Nice-sized defensive end who flashes next-level ability. Quick, explosive, and plays with terrific pad level. Fires off the snap, gets leverage on opponents, and works his hands throughout the action. Possesses good change-of-direction skills as well as a closing burst bearing down on the play. Gives effort and chases the action hard.

Negatives: Consistently controlled at the point by a single blocker. Was very streaky in college.

Analysis: Jones was lowly rated by scouts coming into the season, but possesses enough size, growth potential, and athleticism to make it as an eighth defensive end in a four-man front.

For information on Mississippi State running back Kylin Hill, check out his 2021 NFL Draft Profile.

Marcus Murphy NFL Draft Scouting Report | Defensive Back

Positives: Athletic defensive back who flashes big-time ability. Fluid moving about the field, covers a tremendous amount of area and displays great range. Stays with coverage assignments, keeps the action in front of him, and quickly gets to the action. Quick pedaling in reverse, fluid flipping his hips, and loses nothing in transition. Effectively gets his secondary teammates in proper position.

Negatives: Has a slender build, isn’t a stout defensive back, and has a lot of tackles broken. Does not always play under control and takes himself from the action. Displays average ball skills.

Analysis: Murphy is an athletic specimen who has flashed skill on defense and comes with special-teams potential. He’s a developmental prospect who should get practice-squad consideration this fall.

Marquiss Spencer NFL Draft Scouting Report | Defensive Line

Positives: Hard-working defensive lineman with growth potential. Breaks down well, fires off the snap with a terrific first step, and gets leverage on opponents. Effectively uses his hands, is rarely off his feet, and holds his ground against blocks. Goes hard and runs across the field to make plays if necessary.

Negatives: Doesn’t play to his 40 time and lumbers around the field. Displays a limited closing burst. Gets engulfed at the point or controlled by a single blocker.

Analysis: While Spencer possesses solid measurables, he doesn’t show great power or play speed. He’s a hard-working lineman who could be used as a gap-occupying defensive lineman if he gets a little bigger.
