What PFN Predicted for Seahawks vs. Jets Matchup
Here’s where the Jets and Seahawks rank in various Pro Football Network metrics.
Seahawks
Offense+ Metric: 16th (C-)
Defense+ Metric: 12th (C+)
Geno Smith QB+ Metric: 17th (C+)
Jets
Offense+ Metric: 20th (C-)
Defense+ Metric: 10th (B-)
Aaron Rodgers QB+ Metric: 23rd (C-)
The Jets entered Week 9 on a five-game losing streak. Then, after a surprising upset win over the Houston Texans, hopes were high for a second-half surge. But New York lost its next two games before the Week 12 bye and now faces a must-win home game against the Seahawks.
On paper, New York should be able to win this game. Its defense and offense have more than enough talent to compete with Seattle.
But talent isn’t the issue with the Jets.
Instead, the problems are poor coaching and Rodgers’ declining play. It’s become increasingly clear that the Jets must reset at quarterback and head coach during the offseason.
As for the Seahawks, they started the season 3-0 before losing five of their next six contests. After enjoying a much-needed bye in Week 10, Seattle has earned back-to-back wins against the 49ers and Cardinals.
Smith was efficient in both games, completing 78.1% of his passes against San Francisco and 71% against Arizona. He did, however, throw one interception and committed one fumble in both games while taking a combined nine sacks.
Consequently, we don’t expect the Seahawks to score many points against New York’s defense. With that said, we do expect the Jets’ offense to fare even worse against Seattle’s defense.
PFN Prediction: Seahawks 23, Jets 13
