Not only are the Seattle Seahawks aiming to return to the playoffs in 2024, but they will do so while navigating the first season under a new coaching regime.
For the first time since the 2009 season, Pete Carroll won’t be roaming the sidelines for Seattle. Enter Mike Macdonald, who comes over from the Baltimore Ravens. The defensive guru — and the league’s newest youngest head coach at 36 — will be game-planning against a loaded opposing quarterback group representing some of the Seahawks’ home opponents for the ’24 NFL season.

Seattle To Welcome Established Pro Bowl QBs From AFC East
Again, Macdonald has a strong lineup of quarterbacks on his first schedule as head coach. Lucky for him, those passers get to face the deafening noise that’s common inside Lumen Field.
Josh Allen will make his first-ever trip to the Pacific Northwest when the ‘Hawks host the Bills. Allen hasn’t faced Seattle since 2020, a 44-34 shootout victory for Buffalo.
Staying in the AFC East, Tua Tagovailoa is another Pro Bowl passer set to hear the “12th man” next fall. The Miami Dolphins franchise QB has never faced the Seahawks before in his first four seasons in the league.
Outside of Tagovailoa and Allen, Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers are another highly anticipated visitor and first-time foe. Love never got the chance to face the Seahawks in his first full season as the starter this past year.
Meanwhile, it’s not set in stone that former Seahawks QB Russell Wilson will be making a second trip to his former home. Several rumblings have indicated that the passer who led Seattle to its only Vince Lombardi Trophy will part ways with the Denver Broncos this offseason. Wilson lost his only meeting with Seattle thus far in the 2022 Monday Night Football season opener.
Road Gauntlet Features New Head Coach But Familiar Rival
Two of Seattle’s road foes will have new head coaches leading the way. But in the case of one of them, it’s a familiar opposing coach to the Seahawks.
Seattle will trek to Mercedes-Benz Stadium to face an Atlanta Falcons team now led by Raheem Morris — the same Morris who spent 2021 to 2023 game-planning against the Seahawks’ offense as the Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator.
Also on deck is a New England Patriots team that’s pivoting away from their own longtime head coach. Out is Bill Belichick, and in is Jerod Mayo, who’ll be sharing the field with fellow rookie HC Macdonald in the interconference clash.
The Seahawks additionally have a highly anticipated rematch with the Detroit Lions this upcoming season. Seattle stunned the NFC runner-up in September, 37-31, in one of the more thrilling contests of 2023.
That game ended with Geno Smith and company completing a nine-play drive that kept Jared Goff and his crew off the field in overtime. Smith ended the afternoon by hitting Tyler Lockett for a nine-yard touchdown.
How Tough Is Seahawks’ 2024 Slate?
Seattle doesn’t have the easiest schedule ahead of 2024, but they certainly don’t have the toughest.
The Seahawks have one of the softest schedules for the next season — with their full slate of opponents sporting a combined 141-148 record in 2023.
Seattle is tied with the Dolphins and Cardinals for the NFL’s 24th-strongest schedule next season. Collectively, the ‘Hawks will face six different 2023 playoff teams.

That includes the combined four games against the division-rival San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams. The Packers, Bills, and Dolphins represent the 2023 playoff qualifiers heading to the Pacific Northwest.
Outside of the road trips to Inglewood and Santa Clara, the Lions are the other Seahawks road opponent that was a playoff participant in 2023.
