Seattle Seahawks grades for 2021 NFL Draft
The Seahawks add to their wide receiver with D’Wayne Eskridge at 56 overall.
D’Wayne Eskridge, WR, Western Michigan
The Seahawks use their first pick to enhance their receiving unit. D’Wayne Eskridge is an electric playmaker who provides elite YAC ability. He’s also a strong return man and can carry the ball out of the backfield. There were better players at bigger needs, but the Seahawks round out a talented receiver trio.
Grade: C-
Tre Brown, CB, Oklahoma
After losing Shaquille Griffin in free agency, the Seahawks need to add a body to the CB room. Tre Brown projects as a nickel cornerback but has the ability to be a match-up piece across the field.
Grade: C+
Stone Forsythe, OT, Florida
Seattle adds a very talented offensive tackle to compete for the starting right tackle spot. If not, Stone Forsythe can sit behind Duane Brown, developing to be the left tackle of the future.
Grade: A
Seattle Seahawks Overall Grade: D+
The Seahawks had three picks and reached with the first one. Eskridge is an exciting playmaker but wasn’t great value in the second round. Forsythe is a nice value pick with a solid path to playing time in Seattle.
Team needs for Seattle coming into the NFL Draft
Seattle has holes with few picks in the 2021 NFL Draft to fill them.
Offensive Tackle
The Seahawks currently have a hole at right tackle, with an unclear favorite to start next year. At left tackle Duane Brown, who’s not only on the wrong side of 30 but the wrong side of 35. They need to add young talent to corners of their offensive line.
Offensive Center
Ethan Pocic has been serviceable at center. However, if Seattle can add an upgrade on Day 2, they’ll need to consider it. They made a move for Gabe Jackson to take over one of the guard spots, and Damien Lewis played good football as a rookie last year. Finding someone to anchor the middle of that OL would be huge.
Cornerback
Seattle lost Shaquill Griffin in free agency, but they did bring in Ahkello Witherspoon. Witherspoon will likely play out of the nickel more often than not, so another boundary corner would be effective.
Wide Receiver
Despite the Seahawks possessing a dominant wide receiver duo, they lack talent behind the starters. Adding a productive college start would be wise for them.
