Seahawks vs. 49ers Prediction
The Seahawks needed every last drop of luck to make it into the 2022-2023 NFL postseason, and it seemed like they may have just run out when Jason Myers clanked a field-goal attempt off of the upright at the end of regulation in Week 18.
However, due to an incredible interception from Quandre Diggs in overtime, Seattle received another attempt to do their part to make the playoffs and were able to notch a tally in the win column a few minutes later to move to 9-8 on the season. All they needed then was a Detroit win on Sunday Night Football.
We now know the result of that NFC North battle, and Seattle has done what no one thought was possible at the beginning of the season: making the playoffs without Russell Wilson.
Pete Carroll and Geno Smith have done a masterful job of navigating this tumultuous season, and they should be commended, no matter the results of this next game.
This resilient Seahawks team will have a tough task in front of them though in Super Wild Card Weekend as they take on their divisional foe, the 49ers. These two teams have already squared off twice this year, and San Francisco outscored Seattle 48-20 on their way to two victories in the season series.

As they take on arguably the toughest defense in the entire league this week, Seattle will need to be sharp offensively, and Smith will need to eliminate his turnovers to give his team a chance in a game that they are heavy underdogs. Over his last three games, Smith has turned the ball over three times. That could be the difference-maker in this game.
As for the 49ers, Kyle Shanahan has to be in the conversation for Coach of the Year. Despite losing his starting QB in Week 2 and then his backup QB in Week 13, Shanahan has continued to win game after game this season.
The 49ers enter the NFC playoffs as the No. 2 seed and will have home-field advantage over every team other than the Philadelphia Eagles, should they face off at some point. San Francisco ended the year on a 10-game win streak, even with their third-string QB — who has been playing well — and they seem destined to make some noise this postseason.
The key for San Francisco winning this game is to lean on their playmakers out of the backfield. The Seahawks are allowing the third-most rushing yards per game this season with 150.2, and the 49ers have the players to take advantage of that matchup.
As long as Brock Purdy can take care of the football and the defense can continue to perform at an elite level as they force turnovers, San Francisco should easily move on to the Divisional Round of the postseason.
