Sauce Gardner Takes Dig at Well-Known Russell Wilson Quote

Not one to shy from being verbose, including on social media, the New York Jets cornerback took to X to rewrite a famous quote Russell Wilson likes to do involving the Denver Broncos.

    “Jets Country…….LETS RIDE,” Gardner posted.

His post even caught the attention of famed former Wilson teammate Richard Sherman, who won Super Bowl 48 with Wilson as the Seattle Seahawks quarterback.

Even Buffalo Wild Wings, which has an endorsement deal with the Jets defender, reacted to Gardner’s post.

Wilson tried to popularize the “Broncos Country, let’s ride” motto during the 2022 season. Unfortunately, fans and media witnessed how uncharismatic Wilson looked when he said those four words. Ultimately, Wilson became ridiculed for the motto.

Now, Gardner made his attempt to energize fans by taking out the Broncos part and filling it with his team name.

Game Also Considered Measure of Revenge Following Notable Comments From Sean Payton

For the Jets, this game came off as a personal one for them.

It was in late July 2023 when Broncos head coach Sean Payton made some controversial comments directed toward Nathaniel Hackett, the former Denver coach he took over for. Payton called Hackett’s 2022 coaching job the worst in history before ultimately retracting the comments.

But there was more. Payton, in an interview with Jarrett Bell of USA Today, ripped the Jets for garnering offseason attention.

“We’re not doing any of that. The Jets did that this year. You watch. ‘Hard Knocks,’ all of it. I can see it coming. Remember when [former Washington owner] Dan Snyder put that ‘Dream Team’ together? I was at the Giants [in 2000]. I was a young coach. I thought, ‘How are we going to compete with them? Deion’s (Sanders) there now.’ That team won eight games or whatever. So, listen … just put the work in,” Payton said.

Well, the Jets beat Payton’s team with Hackett as the offensive coordinator. His unit outgained Denver 407-308. And that included gaining 234 rushing yards (177 by Breece Hall in his return) against Denver.

Gardner even took the phone from the Jets admin to let it be known who won in Broncos Country.
