Sauce Gardner Defends Travis Hunter and Lenee Amidst Social Media Backlash

Gardner is backing Hunter as the Colorado Buffaloes’ star and his girlfriend, Lenee, face serious backlash online. It all kicked off after a video surfaced showing the cornerback taking photos with fans in NYC following the Heisman ceremony.

Lenee, sitting nearby, appeared visibly frustrated with how long Hunter was spending with fans, sparking a wave of criticism against her.

Fans piled on with comments questioning Lenee’s patience, and the situation escalated when people scrutinized her emotions and reactions. Hunter later addressed the issue, saying Lenee had been “crying and drinking all day” due to the hate she was receiving.

The New York Jets CB Gardner, known for his loyalty, defended Hunter fiercely. “The fact that him & his girl had to explain what happened shows how powerful social media is,” he said.

Gardner questioned why people felt the need to have an opinion about a relationship that isn’t theirs. “As long as they are good, that’s all that matters. He remind me so much of myself as a person so I feel bad seeing him go thru this and he hasn’t even got to the league yet.”

Lenee even went on social media releasing an eight-minute video explaining her actions.

“Okay, I’m going to be addressing all this stuff online because I’m tired, emotionally and mentally, of seeing people try to make me out to be a person that I am not,’ Lenee began. ‘But what’s a testimony, without a test of faith.”

Later in the video, she said, “The things that I see people make up is truly crazy because it’s not what happened. I just think people are just finding every single little thing and trying to make it something it’s not. Then birdbrained individuals are just accepting what they see online.”

She even went so far as to argue about the photo situation specifically.

“He had finished meeting with the fans. I was there the entire time taking pictures, talking to them, everything,’ she said. ‘The girls that were there, they were the Adidas. They worked for Adidas. So we were taking pictures for a social post. That’s who those people were. I wasn’t annoyed with no fans at all. I never annoyed with fans.”
