‘I Gotta Give Up the Game’ – Saquon Barkley Raises Eyebrows With Cryptic Comments Just Two Days Into Eagles’ Super Bowl Win

Saquon Barkley's latest social media activity sends fans into thinking he was quitting; actually it was about a golf target.

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley can rest easy this offseason after finally winning the coveted Lombardi Trophy on Sunday. While he may not have shined in the Big Game as he did in the NFC Championship Game, he finished the playoffs with almost 500 rushing yards along with five rushing touchdowns.

However, it was the regular season where he truly shined, recording the most rushing (2,504) and scrimmage yards (2,857) in a full season. He surpassed Terrell Davis to make NFL history.

Now in the offseason, he’s already getting in the mood to play another sport.

Saquon Barkley Drops Cryptic Comment 48 Hours After Winning Super Bowl LIX

Just two days after winning the Super Bowl, Barkley took to X and posted a cryptic comment, which had some fans searching for what it meant.

“If I don’t break 80 this offseason… I gotta give up the game,” Barkley wrote on X.

The comments raised eyebrows as some fans thought he was giving up the game of football, which wasn’t the case.

“Hell no. Never quit,” one fan wrote.

“Break 80 in Madden or..?” another added.

“This is not the mindset of a SB champion,” another wrote.

What Barkley was actually referring to from this comment was in relation to golf.

In golf, “breaking 80” means shooting a score of 79 or lower for 18 holes, which is a significant milestone for amateur golfers. It indicates a high level of skill, as most casual players struggle to achieve this consistently.

Barkley’s comment suggests that he has set a personal goal to shoot under 80 before the offseason ends. Or else he’ll quit golf.

While the majority of the fans were clueless, a select few fans actually got what he was talking about.

“It’s funny how many of these replies think this is about a contract. With that said, you’re never giving up the game! Once you pop the fun don’t stop. And by fun, I mean frustration! 😂” one fan said.

“We got this,” one fan wrote.

“The amount of people not realizing this post is about golf is humorous,” another added.

Barkley has experience in golf, having played at the LPGA’s Founders Cup pro-am in Northern New Jersey.

Bryson DeChambeau Reacts to Saquon Barkley

Defending US Open Champion Bryson DeChambeau soon reacted to the post of Super Bowl winner. He reacted:

“How about we just break 50 together?”

Breaking 50 is a relatively easier job as compared to breaking 80. Breaking 50 (for 9 holes) means shooting under 100 for 18 holes, which is a goal for many beginners.

Soon after, Barkley reacted that he was a little busy helping the Eagles win their only second Super Bowl.

“Just say the word!! I’m kind of rusty.. was a little busy,” he replied.

Only 8 to 10% of golfers can break 80. Thus, Barkley has his task cut out this offseason. Chambeau is just advising to take things slowly and complete break 50 first.
