Eagles’ Saquon Barkley Shares Heartwarming Story of Juggling Super Bowl and Daddy-Daughter Dance

Philadelphia Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley reveals heartwarming family story from Super Bowl 59 week on 'The Tonight Show.'

Philadelphia Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley revealed a sweet family story from Super Bowl 59 week. While appearing on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ alongside Jalen Hurts, Barkley outlined how it was great to celebrate the win with his family and how fortunate he was that the date of a scheduled “daddy-daughter” dance with his daughter had been moved to March.

Barkley had one of the greatest running back seasons in National Football League history this year. He had 2,005 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns on the year. Furthermore, he added 33 receptions through the air, tallying another 278 yards and two touchdowns in the process. This resulted in Barkley being named the NFL Offensive Player of the Year this season.

What Did Saquon Barkley Reveal About Super Bowl 59 Week?

Barkley outlined how he was very fortunate to have his family with him for Super Bowl 59 week and be able to celebrate the massive win with all of them afterwards, especially considering a prior commitment had been moved.

“Being there, celebrating with my family. Before the game, that day, we had a daddy, daughter dance, me and my daughter.

“So, it was able to get it cancelled and moved to March 14th, so I’m able to have that moment with her. And, before the game, she told me now that the dance is cancelled, she wants to win the Super Bowl a little bit more,” Barkley stated.

The Eagles destroyed the Kansas City Chiefs by a score of 40-22. Though 18 points isn’t considered a blowout, the score does not truly reflect how strong the Eagles were and how poorly the Chiefs played. At one point, the Eagles led 34-0 in the third quarter and kept the Chiefs to only one first down in the entirety of the first half of play.

Despite his great campaign, Barkley was contained on the ground for the majority of Super Bowl 59. He had 57 rushing yards on 25 carries, averaging only 2.3 yards per rush attempt in the contest. However, he was more effective as a receiver, amassing six receptions for 40 yards in the game.

Although he did not deliver a classic performance in the big game, Barkley still took home the hardware. He is now a Super Bowl champion, only one season removed from being a member of the New York Giants, and will be able to attend the dance with his daughter later this year.
