Saquon Barkley Injury Update: Latest on Eagles RB After Week 10 Wrist Issue vs. Cowboys

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley suffered an apparent injury in the club’s Week 10 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Here’s the latest from Sunday’s game.

    What Happened to Saquon Barkley?

Barkley appeared to injure his left hand while trying to recover a Jalen Hurts fumble with roughly two minutes remaining in the second quarter.

After the fumble, he slowly walked off the field and immediately received attention from Philadelphia’s medical staff. Barkley never entered the blue medical tent, but he did consult with the club’s trainers. An Eagles trainer appeared to apply tape to Barkley’s left forearm.

Prior to getting hurt, Barkley took six carries for 23 rushing yards and caught one pass for 12 yards.

Barkley has been one of the NFL‘s best backs after inking a three-year, $37.75 million contract with the Eagles in March.

The 27-year-old entered Week 10 with 925 yards, second in the league behind only Derrick Henry. Among running backs with at least 75 carries, Barkley ranks eighth in efficiency with 0.03 EPA per rush.

Did Barkley Return in Week 10?

Barkley was wearing his helmet and standing with the Eagles’ other offensive players when Philadelphia got the ball back with 1:43 remaining in the second quarter.

However, Barkley did not play on the club’s final drive before the half. Fellow running back Kenneth Gainwell handled every snap as the Eagles drove 84 yards for a touchdown.

Fortunately, Barkley avoided a significant injury. He was back on the field for the Eagles’ first offensive play of the third quarter. He was sporting a large bandage from the inside of his left wrist to his elbow.

Barkley finished the game with 14 carries for 66 yards while also catching one pass for 12 yards.

After the game, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni didn’t even mention Barkley’s injury, so it doesn’t seem significant.
