Saints Legend Makes Feelings Extremely Clear on Kellen Moore Taking Over As Next Head Coach

One legendary Saints running back aired his opinions on the rumors that Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is linked to New Orleans.

Kellen Moore is focused on conquering the Kansas City Chiefs and claiming the Super Bowl. However, he has continuously been linked away from the Philadelphia Eagles during this period.

Former New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram has made his opinion clear on the possibility of Moore taking over as the Saints’ next head coach.

Mark Ingram Approves of Kellen Moore Leading Saints

The Saints are now the only team in the league without a head coach. They fired Dennis Allen after the Week 9 game against the Carolina Panthers. Darren Rizzi became the interim head coach and finished out a disappointing 5-12 season.

During Ingram’s appearance on the “Up & Adams Show,” the former running back pointed out that the Saints tend to do better under attacking head coaches. He suggested Moore could lead New Orleans to several successful seasons as Sean Payton did.

“I think when Saints were at their best, we had an offensive-minded head coach in Sean Payton. So, I think that’s appealing,” he said.

Payton coached the Saints for 15 seasons, during which time they had an overall record of 152-89 and a win percentage of .631. Under his leadership, the Saints won Super Bowl 44 and topped the NFC South division seven times.

Moore Opens Up on the Saints’ Job

Moore is currently at the Caesars Superdome, home of the Saints, however, he pointed out his “pure focus” is on the Eagles’ upcoming battle against the Chiefs. The 36-year-old did open up on his thoughts about leading the Saints and his potential hiring.

“It’s obviously been a good process,” Moore said. “Having an opportunity to meet with Mickey [Loomis] and their leadership group has been great, and it’s set up in a way that allows us to focus on this game and we’ll see what happens after that.”

Moore’s confirmation as the Saints head coach would only happen after Super Bowl 59 plays out on Feb. 9.
