Ryan Tannehill Ankle Injury Update: What We Know About the Tennessee Titans QB

Tennessee Titans QB Ryan Tannehill suffered an injury against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. Here's the latest update on the veteran signal-caller.

Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill is in the locker room after suffering an ankle injury against the Los Angeles Chargers. Tennessee has announced Tannehill is questionable to return. Here’s the latest on the Titans’ signal-caller as Tennessee tries to hang onto their AFC South lead.

    Ryan Tannehill Injury Update

Tannehill took a hard hit from Chargers edge rusher Khalil Mack in the first quarter of Sunday’s game. The veteran QB first went to the blue medical tent for evaluation before a cart took him to the locker room.

Tannehill has dealt with ankle issues all year long. He missed two games earlier this season due to the issue, and he was initially listed on this week’s injury report with an ankle injury. However, Tannehill was removed from the report by Friday.

With Tannehill sidelined, the Titans have once again turned to rookie backup QB Malik Willis. The third-round pick started when Tannehill missed that pair of games in Weeks 8 and 9, but Tennessee clearly didn’t trust him to do much, as he attempted just 26 total passes.

The Titans, who are already missing first-round receiver Treylon Burks, will have to continue to run their offense through Derrick Henry. However, Henry has been largely contained over the past month or so.

At one point, Tennessee looked like the runaway favorites in the AFC South. But the Jaguars’ recent run — punctuated by their overtime victory over the Cowboys on Sunday — has made things tight in the division.
