‘Young Legend’ — Russell Wilson’s Wife Ciara Posts Heartfelt Reaction as BFF La La, Carmelo Anthony’s Son Kiyan Makes Major College Decision

Steelers QB Russell Wilson's wife had positive words for La La and Carmelo Anthony's son, Kiyan Anthony, committing to Syracuse.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson’s wife, Ciara, sends warm wishes to her bestie La La Anthony’s son, Kiyan Anthony, who announced his commitment to the Syracuse basketball program on Friday.

This comes after Long Island Lutheran Middle & High School prodigy and NBA star Carmelo Anthony’s son shortlisted six schools for his next destination. Among them were Auburn, Florida State, Ohio State, USC, Syracuse, and Rutgers. Finally, he revealed that he’ll be joining Syracuse, following in the footsteps of his father’s legacy, who also played there before being drafted into the NBA.

Upon learning his commitment news, Russell’s wife Ciara took to Instagram, praising La La’s son.

“Go Kiyan Anthony,” she wrote. “So proud of you! All your hard work is paying off! The sky is limit, young legend.”

La La Anthony Said Carmelo Played No Part in Son’s Commitment

After news regarding Kiyan’s commitment came out, many thought it would be because of pressure from his dad Carmelo, who also played for Syracuse. However, La La buffed those rumors, saying they had nothing to do with Kiyan’s decision.

“We stepped back and allowed him to make a decision and told him whatever he decided we would support,” La La said. “Contrary to what people probably think, there was zero pressure from his dad to go to Syracuse.”

Even Carmelo chipped in, saying that no matter how much he wanted to put Syracuse in Kiyan’s mind, he wanted to make sure his son made a decision himself.

“It’s a tough decision. And for me to have to be quiet, like knowing what is cooking over here, it’s tough,” Carmelo said. “I know what’s happening in Syracuse. I’m a part of that. … I can’t even tell him that. Because then that way, that’s like … swaying. That’s swaying him a little bit.”

As for Kiyan, the basketball prospect said one of the biggest factors that swayed him to commit to Syracuse was the Orange’s coaching staff led by head coach Adrian Autry.

“I’m going to do everything coach Autry needs me to do,” he said. “We talk a lot, especially late at night, about how we can make Syracuse basketball great. Off the court, Coach is super cool. You could go out with him on a Friday night. He’s still young and connects with all his players; he is very relatable.”

According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Kiyan is the highest-ranked basketball player in the state of New York, sixth-best at his position (shooting guard), and 32nd overall in the nation’s 2025 recruiting class.

    Russell Wilson’s Net Worth

Some outlets have Wilson’s net worth set at $165 million, while Forbes has it at $85 million. That’s a fairly large range to estimate from, but it’s at least somewhere north of $80 million.

Wilson’s career earnings are set at $305,340,123, making him the fifth-highest-earning player in NFL history. He’s also the third-highest-earning active player, behind Aaron Rodgers and Matthew Stafford.

Wilson signed three contracts with the Seattle Seahawks. His rookie deal was for four years and $2.9 million. His first extension in Seattle was a four-year, $87.6 million deal signed in 2015 with $31.7 million guaranteed.

Wilson earned $72,142,000 from that contract before signing his next extension with Seattle in 2019. That contract was worth $140 million over four years, including $70 million guaranteed. Wilson earned $107 million from that deal before being dealt to the Broncos.

His off-field ventures have also helped him earn a hefty amount. Forbes estimated that Wilson will earn $13 million this year from endorsements alone. Wilson has deals with Amazon, Bose, Mercedes-Benz, Nike, Wilson Sporting Goods, Subway, Levi’s, and Pepsi, among others.

This will be an interesting earning year for Wilson, as he’ll be getting paid from two different teams. The $1.21 million deal he agreed to with Pittsburgh is the smallest one of his career, even lower than his rookie contract. If Wilson can improve his play with the Steelers, it could look like a bargain by this time next year.
