The quickest way to fall behind in a fantasy football league is to become complacent and rely on the team you drafted, neglecting the all-important waiver wire. As managers make numerous waiver claims for Week 10, hoping to strengthen their roster, should Denver Broncos QB Russell Wilson be a priority addition off the waiver wire vs. Tennessee?
Russell Wilson Has Been One of the Biggest Disappointments in 2022
In a season chocked-full of underwhelming performances both for the NFL and fantasy football, Wilson has to be right up there towards the top. Wilson hasn’t finished outside the top 12 in every healthy year, but that streak is unquestionably coming to an end in 2022.
Do you think Wilson can get back on track and save the Broncos’ season? Making the trek over to London, Wilson and the Broncos had another underwhelming day. Wilson completed 18 of his 30 passes for 252 yards with one touchdown and an interception against the Jaguars to finish as the QB21 in Week 8 with 14.8 PPR fantasy points.
Wilson’s 26.5 PPR points back in Week 4 is the only time he has surpassed 18 points, and his Week 1 outing against his former team was the only time he finished inside the top 12 of weekly scoring. That was also his only game above 275 passing yards.
It’s been a season to forget for Wilson, who sits as the QB23 in points per game (14.5 PPR). He is 18th in yards (1,694) and is tied with Ryan Tannehill and Baker Mayfield in touchdowns with six. Wilson is also all the way down at 26th in EPA+CPOE composite, 21st in EPA per play, and 31st in success rate.
As the Broncos come off of their bye and get ready for a matchup against the Tennessee Titans, is Wilson even a waiver wire candidate for those who are streaming the position?
Should Wilson Be a Top Waiver Wire Priority for Fantasy Managers in Week 10?
Wilson is too darn talented to be playing the way he is. This Broncos team also has too many weapons to struggle the way they have, but for some reason, things aren’t clicking. It’s a top-down issue from the coaching to the preparation and execution — the whole thing and no one person is solely at fault despite some really questionable behavior or bad commercials.
The best thing that could’ve happened to Denver last week did happen. And it wasn’t a win. It was because they didn’t lose and had a chance to sit down during their bye and figure out what the hell is happening before it was too late.

Tennessee is a favorable matchup for Wilson. They sit 26th in points allowed at 19.8 PPR, primarily due to being a pass funnel. Tennessee sits No. 1 in rushing DVOA and No. 3 in rush EPA, which means teams are finding success against them via the passing game, not so much on the ground.
That’s also where the Broncos will have their biggest mismatch, as Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, and even Greg Dulcich should win their individual matchups. At the moment, it’s hard to trust Wilson as anything more than a high-end QB2, but if/when this offense can figure it out, he would immediately be back into mid to low-end QB1 territory. Whether or not that happens in Week 10 is anyone’s guess.
