The Romeo Doubs dynasty discourse has evolved from a nice-to-have player to one with a bright future in an upward-trending Green Bay Packers offense in just a few short months.
After a productive season, should you be looking to cash in this chip now or hold on for the long haul in dynasty fantasy football leagues?
Romeo Doubs’ Dynasty Outlook
How promising is the future of the NFC North?
There were five players in their age-23 season (or younger) that caught at least eight touchdown passes in 2023, and they all shared a division.
- Detroit Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown: 10 touchdowns
- Minnesota Vikings WR Jordan Addison: 10
- Lions TE Sam LaPorta: 10
- Packers WR Doubs: 8
- Packers WR Jayden Reed: 8
Doubs turns 24 in April, and the 2022 fourth-round pick is looking like a bargain at the price he was acquired entering the 2023 season. It’s easy to buy into the upside case of the young wideout.

After all, he led the Packers in targets, ranked fourth in the NFL in red zone routes run in 2023, and turned 12 playoff targets into 34.4 half-PPR fantasy points (10-234-1).
But dig a bit deeper and serious concerns begin to come to light. Initially, I was willing to write off his 62% career catch rate as a product of inconsistent quarterback play –- upon further review, I’m not so sure he deserves the benefit of the doubt.
Note: every fantasy manager has opinions on players, the successful ones are willing to adjust their thoughts during the research process.
- 38.2% in route win rate (114th)
- 80.8% true catch rate (91st)
A receiver this young has plenty of time to grow and develop. Doubs could very well improve as Love does, making these concerns the product of early career growing pains more than anything.
That’s all possible. But so is failing to ascend at the same rate as his teammates, a core that is both young and competitive enough to fight for targets in 2024.

A knock on Doubs is the lack of clarity when it comes to the hierarchy of pass catchers in Green Bay.
Targets per route in 2023
- RB Aaron Jones: 24.8%
- WR Reed: 23.9%
- WR Dontayvion Wicks: 19.9%
- WR Doubs: 19.5%
- WR Christian Watson: 18.9%
- TE Luke Musgrave: 18.0%
- TE Tucker Kraft: 14.6%
How you read this information will determine how you value Doubs. If you see that list and think “his path to WR1 work is reasonably clear,” then you’re higher than I am on him and would be wise to acquire him before he establishes himself as the alpha.
Personally, this list scares me. Reed was more impressive to my eye this season, and Wicks thrived in the limited reps that he got.
To me, this list suggests that Doubs is at risk of falling out of a consistent fantasy role unless Jordan Love can truly be an elite signal-caller who is capable of supporting a trio of pass catchers.
It’s decision time for managers with Doubs. If he’s going to break out, 2024 might well be the year, and his current value is a steal.

Expecting that is a little optimistic for my liking, and thus I’m moving on from him. However, it is certainly within the range of potential outcomes that he makes one regret selling him. That is what makes early trade negotiations so interesting.
