‘Cowboys Need Deion Sanders’ — Ex-NFL QB Makes Bold Case for Coach Prime as Next HC for America’s Team

Robert Griffin III suggested Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys should go all in to replace Mike McCarthy with Deion Sanders.

After five seasons together, the Dallas Cowboys and Mike McCarthy have mutually agreed to part ways. Jerry Jones is now looking for a new head coach, and there has been growing speculation about the franchise possibly hiring Deion Sanders.

Robert Griffin III recently discussed why the Cowboys should pursue the Colorado Buffaloes head coach, as he is the right man to replace McCarthy.

Robert Griffin III Urges Cowboys To Hire Deion Sanders

Last year, Griffin urged the Cowboys to fire McCarthy and hire Sanders, but the NFC East team didn’t make that decision. They let their former head coach serve his contract, and Dallas missed the playoffs, mainly due to Dak Prescott’s injury.

Now that the Cowboys are officially in the market for a new head coach, the former Heisman winner emphasized how Sanders will improve the Cowboys.

“Deion Sanders has helped Colorado establish an identity, a winning culture, and invigorated their fan base like never before,” Griffin said. “On the other hand, the Dallas Cowboys still don’t have an identity, and their fans are more discouraged than ever.”

“I was told that the Dallas Cowboys didn’t need more of a circus and that Deion Sanders would bring that, but it turns out I was right. The Dallas Cowboys are a circus, but Deion Sanders and his operation are not,” added Griffin. “Not everyone likes his style, but his players do, and they respect it, so it’s effective…. The difference is the Cowboys need Deion Sanders, but he doesn’t need them. ”

Griffin mentioned how Sanders has improved Colorado. The Buffaloes won just one game in the season before hiring the Hall of Famer. Sanders coached them to four wins in his first season and seven in the next, which shows how quickly he can turn around a struggling program.

Unlike in Colorado, Sanders will have immensely talented players to work with in Dallas. A good head coach can build a Super Bowl-winning team around players like CeeDee Lamb, Micah Parsons, Dak Prescott, and Trevon Diggs.

However, Griffin mentioned that, for the Cowboys to get Sanders, they should draft Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders, which will be a very tough task. So, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the Colorado head coach.

Jerry Jones Has Spoken With Sanders for Cowboys HC Role

Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Cowboys owner has spoken with Sanders regarding the possibility of him becoming the team’s next head coach. Schultz reported that there is “mutual interest” between Sanders and Jones in reaching an agreement, which shows there’s a high possibility that the two-time Super Bowl winner could be coaching in Dallas next year.

The Las Vegas Raiders are also expected to have conversations with Sanders regarding their head coach role. Tom Brady is a minority owner of the Raiders and has a great relationship with the Sanders family. As a result, Jones must act quickly if he wants to hire Sanders as the Cowboys’ head coach.

The biggest dilemma the Cowboys could have in getting Sanders is how they are not positioned to draft his son, Shedeur. The Colorado quarterback is expected to be a top pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, while Dallas has the 12th overall pick. They signed Prescott to a four-year, $240 million extension before the start of the season, so it will be very surprising if Jones decides to trade him.

Sanders could be open to coaching a team without his son, and Dallas is an attractive destination. He played five seasons with the Cowboys and knows what it’s like to be on America’s team. Jones has faced much criticism from the team’s fans over the years, but he can now redeem himself by replacing McCarthy with Sanders.
